Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The next BBQ might have to include perro asado (grilled canine). My neighbors actually sent me a text asking me not to shoot their dog. I am crazy, but not THAT crazy. We do target practice out back, but we don't shoot at animals. At least they keep their dogs in their yard now (plus we gave them some left over fencing).

Glad your girls escaped with no harm.

Being the crazy woman with a gun has its rewards & respect !

And that is why you shoot attacking dogs. They will come back. I've seen enough of that growing up
Shoot all sray dogs (if not over their heads for a warning) stray dogs will run down & kill sheep, lambs, goats & calves, and colts/horses.
Killing chickens is just fun they do when there is no bigger game to "play with"

My origional comment was more a reflection on the oh so many who do not do as much as they can to help deter predetors from coming onto their property or at least a fenced safe area ,,,,,I know from experience too that sometimes the best fences can be breached if they are not reguarly monitored and checked. We lost our daughters alpaca to a cougar, birds to racoons, coyotes and eagles, A llama had a unknown pitbull bite its nose through a hole in a fence,,,,,Many years ago there were 2 dog attacks that i will remember when i had a few llamas…..In Oregon, the Patterson Ranch had a major dog attack killing many llamas but Dick couldn't get any retribution because they were considered *exotic* not domestic at that time….He rallied the Ag department and eventually got the designation changed. In SW Washington about the same time a few roving dogs killed several llamas and the dogs owners said it wasn't theirs…..fortunately/unfortunatly they were seen killing several sheep several days later and were euthanized.
Where i live now i am fortunate that most of my neighbors are responsible owners and/or have breeds that are non threatening…..BUT i do belong to the shoot and shovel club…...
YESSS!
The shoot & shovel & Shutup Club LIVES !!!

There's a bad coyote problem in my area. But, because coyotes are territorial and we have a black lab. They avoid our house for about a quarter mile in all directions. She's good protection from most predators
Spirit Lake Idaho, is my original home !
And I raised Black Labs !

I am out here now~
But my kennel & my farm are still named Spiritwood~

I cut everyone's hair in my house and dump it outside where the little native birds collect and disrepute in ground, bush, and tree nests, I think that is helping to keep yotes out of my yard. I see sign and scat around the line but never in our yard.
Best is to go collect dog poo in a bucket, and then walk far around your property & fling dung as you go....yodel dogs & others think big dogs is all around & they do not come around !

I live on 7 plus acres and it took about 8 years to get it completely fenced with 5' high horse no climb. anywhere the soil is soft or is low or at the creek openings barbed wire is stuffed. Half was salvaged from where we used to live the rest purchased on sale. I am working on a secondary fence with the cheaper livestock fence so there is a buffer except when allowed to mow it down. once a neighbor hit the fence with his mower creating a large hole….i discovered it when i looked out the window and my sheep were heading toward his house.
UGH! You can come help me do my perimeter !
And I have sheep ordered for Spring !!!
