Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

My colored layers are for kitchen eggs and the others are for breeding and selling. The Barbezieux are a dual purpose. They're known for being a meat bird since they taste so good but they're great layers and not at all like commercial meat birds. They're a lot like a Jersey Giant. They're a natural breed and not "created" to be a meat bird.

I almost forgot, I have Seramas too

nope, got my own.
Oh they're so amazing! I'm really enjoying mine other than the fact she's terrorizing my 6 week old babies. We call her "Big Mamma". These are my first chickens ever and I'm feeling a little overwhelmed or I would TOTALLY want some of your Gold Laced. I think I've always loved Orps best...from looking at them of course because I've never owned any chickens. Here's my girl...

She's such a fluff bottom! I didn't realize they were so poofy down there. I guess it's good for raising babies. Right now I'm stressing about my coop and the rain and what I'm going to do for these chickens because I don't have an outdoor run! They spent the whole day out yesterday free ranging. Okay, have to be responsible now and get the kiddies ready for school!

I think Orps are the poofiest I've ever seen. And giant cochins are right there with them. My orps free range in the rain and mud with no problems. Doesn't phase them at all. Some of them even play in mud puddles.
I was thinking about the 6 week old "babies". They are feathered but I only weaned them off their heat lamp completely two days ago. I guess I can let them out and they'll let me know if they're miserable or not.
