Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Seem like one of our chick (Snowflakes) came down with Coccidiosis. She haven't been moving around much, just stand area hunched over and closes her eyes. Sometime even fluffed up for no reason. She was the most active chicks :( - she had been on med chick feed since we picked her up from Wilco 4 months ago. Started free range 2 months now.

Just read up how to treat coccidiosis:
-- Separate (most likely will bring her in the garage) until she get better
-- Add Corid 9.6% liquid solution to 1 gallon of water for 5 days (make new batch each day)

Sound simple enough.. will monitor her dropping.. haven't seen any blood yet.

I will dry them and try to stockpile them. I will be get them for free so I can't charge for them. I will P.M. you to let you know how the drying goes. Will not have them until a couple weeks.
You seriously need to at least charge for your time it takes to dry.
And bag them...I have a horde of feedbags saved up, want them ?
Einstein will be going down about June for a visit to his kids in NorCal....he can drop off the bags.
Let me know if you want them.

If a bird has cocci, there will be blood ALL OVER like you slit your finger open...fresh red blood.
These babies seldom show any other symptoms, until they have bled out.
Your bird does not sound like she has cocci.

Do you have them on medicated chick feed ?

Richard is more by the boot strap guy it can get kinda funny sometime
sounds like a riot!

I am famous for bringing 50# of food on a trip (and fresh water & towels/blankets/etc and a full surgical first aide kits..)
They make fun of me like all my stuff will sink the boat, but if we ever wash up on a deserted island...we'll be drinking fine wine in plastic stemware ! And have a full Pu pu platter before dinner !

Nice boats... trailers are pain people tend to think they are made of gold when they go to sell them... James and I bought the house together and he has a Kawasaki side by side or mule as they call them with a dump bed when he received his award from
L & I he bought it new then we have 2 snapper mowers with tow bars on them also with the mule and them wen really do not need much else...
The trailer we have for the boat Richard made himself about 8 years ago he had modify it a bit the guy that gave us the valiant gave us the rollers also but Richard had built for a 8 ft fiberglass sciff
Sounds like you have a Mr Goodwrench, too....Einstein here (Gary) is a certified Mr Goodwrench with 75K in tools and 30+ years of experience, then he started working at an elevator company, and that is when he decided to fly backwards off a snd story roof...he is shorter now...
And crankier.
And his back is messed up (Scoliosis) so bad he has a very hard time "hunkering" over an engine to work on it.

You & I have alot in common !!

Will have to check the dropping area tomorrow morning.. I was out there this morning working on a new coop, didn't notice any blood, did notice Snowflakes was not her normal self - puffed and hunched over - stand sleeping most of the time when she is normally leading her chicks around and playing tag.

All of our chicks are on med feed and still are on med feed (it is odd that only Snowflakes is doing this)

From this posting said "puffed up or hunched appearance, not eating):

It sounds as though her being low in the pecking order may be the reason she is not well. She also could have coccidiosis and symptoms include diarrhea or blood in droppings, lethargy, puffed up or hunched appearance, and not eating. Corid (amprollium) in the water is the best treatment. I would keep her warm and help her get back to normal for a couple of days, then put her back out side with the others. Make a special point of picking her up and feeding her a little extra or giving her treats of chopped egg, or other high protein snacks, and place at least 2 waterers and feeder far apart. Worming your flock may also be a good thing.

Chickielady -- I believe I'm ok on bags we have been keeping empty feed store bags all this time.

It's nice to have Chickielady back active on this form again -

I remember when I first join.. I would always look forward on reading Penny, Duck, Matt, Chickielady, Manning, June, and lots of others posting.
