Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Wild Waves closed early tonight but the weather was not too bad. We have to watch for notification if there is a closure for weather tomorrow but my daughter is already scheduled to work for a show anyway so it only effects me and not her. I stay warm and dry in the haunted house but I did hear heavy rain at times and there was not much of a line all night.

Hope everyone is dry and ready for the coming wind.

I added a few tarps to the sikie compound. They will direct the wind up and over the roofs which are the only vulnerable spot. A little bonus of the tarps is extra covered space for the silkies.

At least this year I had new tarps to use instead of the torn halves of the old tarps. Those would shred and I'd be cutting of strings to keep them chicken safe.

Having proper windbreak fabric on the wind sides helps as well.

My coop is in the most sheltered spot on the property. The woods and the house provide pretty decent wind breaks. Only the east side is exposed. And we shouldn't be getting wind from that direction with this storm.

@junebuggena they say the worse is suppose to happen tonight
historically we do not see the huge winds here they are cut
by about 1/2 but still can do damage.
Really does seem you better hunker down tonight..
@Hinotori You also will be in the eye so to speak

It's going to be a direct hit to the Long Beach/Ilwaco/Astoria area. I've got a fireplace and firewood for heat and cooking should the power go out, plenty of feed for the critters, and water. We are set to ride it out. The insurance is up to date, and we are fully covered, even have flood insurance. We are as prepared as we can be.

I will be sending all good thoughts and prayers down
you way stay safe

Wild Waves is closed so I got the night off. We have a little wind but our coops are solid and the ducks might actually use their shelters if they want to get out of the wind and rain. We have good wind blocks and they love the rain, though.

Tell ya here a few down limbs but even Blue was standing ready for me to come in
like WOW DID YOU SEE THAT but now calm as a summer night but cooler
small limbs down nothing big
