Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hey there, folks. I'm in need of a small game rooster to protect my free-range hens. I'm willing to pay up to $20. Please message me if you can help, but ONLY if you do not breed them for actual cockfighting! Thanks!

I have some half Quechua (blue egg layers) half Easter Egger (blue to green egg layers) young roosters that need to go if they would do the job for you. You could take two for $20 since they will end up going to the auction as crossbreeds anyway. Since they are going to get eaten if we take them to the auction I would rather see them get to live as long as they can in order to protect flocks of layers. If they were to breed anything they would produce mutt chickens that still have some value as colored egg layers but not as breeders.

Hi everyone! I'm terrible at navigating through threads. I'm looking to buy some coturnix quail and was wondering if there's anyone in king county that sells them? Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone have tips on stopping egg eating?

I have not had eggs for 4 days and tonight I found all 4 of my girls eating an egg.
first look at the calcium content of your feed they may be needing more
but then you need some fake eggs of golf balls
text book is this
Place golf balls, or some sort of false egg, in the nesting box. When using this method, make sure you gather the eggs just after they're laid, so that you can further discourage egg eating. After a while, your hens will get tired of pecking at plastic and getting a sore beak, and hopefully the habit will fade.

Use wood or ceramic nest eggs and collect often. Keep nesting boxes fairly dark. Removing the culprit permanently is sometimes needed.

I've lucked out mostly. The big girls will eat an egg if it gets broken in the nest but don't break them themselves. Oh boy. If I drop one it's like piranhas.

I did have a silkie hen who was an egg eater. She'd go out of her way to try and break open an egg. That started when another hen was having thin shelled eggs. She couldn't see them well enough to break them in the dark nest boxes and would follow me when I went to open the boxes to collect. She got dumped on her butt enough times but it didnt deter her.

A few problems, I am gone at school most the day.
One of the two laying does not lay in the box..I think its to small for her.
they have free range to oyster shell.
