Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I'm sick of this ehh tasting jam that hubby bought. Someone told him it was the best jam. Nope nope nope. I like tasting the fruit and not just the sugars. I make jam every year so him buying some was kind of silly anyway. Oh well, not wasting it so it goes in my yogurt.

He gets picky, too. Because I use the yogurt machine, he doesn't want what I make since I don't drain it. He likes greek yogurt better. Well making a large container of it was easier when we had a gas oven with a pilot light. Now it's to much work.

Making chapstick this afternoon. First time doing it. No flavorings this time. Just coconut oil, beeswax, and cocoa butter. All have their own scent and flavor anyway

The chapstick melts fairly quick. I'm going to keep one in my pocket for a few hours tomorrow and see how it holds up. I think it needs less of the oils and more of the wax. Tastes like dark chocolate. I like it, but then I eat plain cocoa nibs.

as the cooler weather I am outside so much
was sidetracked starting dinner homemade stroganoff tonight

Well it lasted perfectly fine tucked as close to my skin as possible for an hour (yes I stuck it in my bra). It goes on a little heavier than some so just need one swipe a lip. Hubby took a tube to use.

It ran $.62 a tube. And that is with organic ingredients. Tubes are cheap to buy.

I've tried a lot of things at least once. If it isn't hugely time consuming or expensive, I keep it up. I did milk kefir for about 6 years, but found I prefer to drink kombucha and eat yogurt. Been making yogurt off and on for a couple decades. Same with bread.

The chapstick was a super easy recipe 2 tablespoons each of an oil, a solid fat, and beeswax. Flavor oils are optional but it only called for a drop. With the even ratio I just weighed out 20 grams of each and dropped them in a mason jar to put in simmering water to melt. Mix well and carefully fill tubes.

I've been wanting to try making soap. I should do it with the sensitivities I have. Real soap (not melt and pour) is one of the few that don't burn me.

Finished butchering the rabbits today. The chickens got to fight each other for hearts and lungs. Moved the 3.5 week old chicks out to the grow out coop. And there are more chicks hatching in the incubator. Gotta get the brooder cleaned out and set up for the little ones.

Wow see I have many allergies also allot to pollen's dust mold
