Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Well the family is home and my headache is triple what it was. Need to go lay down a while. Hope to see more pics from the show yesterday! CR, did Yoda attend? How was business yesterday?

How do these crates look for quarantine? Anything I should change? I had to put them together in the garage, but I put a wall of cardboard between them. They came from the same show, anyway.

Here is the newest silkie. She's around 7 months old - does she need layer feed yet or should I keep her on chick feed?

The silkie talks a lot. It's so cute, she's the first one I have that sounds like a hen! But the Polish hasn't made a sound. I think she may have squawked a bit when I first got her out, but she doesn't cluck or grumble or anything. Are all Polish so quiet? Maybe I can get a Polish rooster.... LOL

Ok....you all talk too much! :gig I do not have time today to try to catch up.

I wanted to say how nice it was to see everyone at the show on Saturday.
Some of you left really quickly....VF......oops, did I say that out loud? ;)  I am sorry I didn't have a chance to meet you and your DW. Maybe next time!
Great to meet up with some new peeps and see some familiar faces too.
Came home with 5 silkies 4 from Marge Best and 1 Rooster from Ultasol, to go along with the 2 really nice pullets I got from her a month ago., 2 of the younger pullets from Marge are eventually going to a friends home to be girlfriends to her silkie boy.
I think I am all set up now to start breeding silkies. At least I have a really good start on my breeders. Very good friends making sure I have good genetics to work with. :D

Sounds like everyone had a good time at the show and some even came home with new additions too. Gotta love chicken math!

Well, I am off to do more chores! Have a great Sunday!
i can't wait to get my 4 from Marge in a week and a half.

I have the best mother-in-law EVER! Even though I have a headache and don't want to go to this fancy function tonight with DH, I need to go. We needed last minute childcare and she dropped the rest of her day to drive an hour to spend 5 hours with the kids. Kinda fun to get away for the evening if only I can get rid of this headache before we leave! Wish me luck!

I love my skelter now even more when it's full of our eggs! What a beautiful sight to me!
It is very pretty !!! Are your kidlets tempted to touch or get the eggs to roll ?
I would think it unbearably tempting to especially young boys...to see the eggs actually roll down the lines....could be a messy situation !!!!!!!!
How is the head ache ?
What can you do for the head ache ?

Thanks! NO, they haven't touched it at all! They think it looks pretty though and are always commenting on it. They're good boys and I can't see them touching it without asking.

I've taken 2 percocet and am still miserable. The only thing I've had to eat today are 3 Shakeology shakes to cleanse myself of the gluten I let slip over the last few days. HOping Percocet #2 kicks in soon. I'll take a pic of me and DH before we leave and post it; it's not too often I dress to the nine like now

All day it has been drizzly off & on and NO WIND.
( Calm before the storm ?)

NOW it is getting what I'd call breezy...and raining buckets !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hate storms at night...much btter during the day when you can see what the heck is going on.....

I put bricks in the chick brooder with the 4 new Blue Copper Marans babies.
IF the power goes out, the little guys will have some heat resonate from the bricks...............hopefully.

Eggs in an incubator are not harmed much at all by a power outage, even when the temp drops to 70 degrees (I done it !!)
BUT, hatched babies are harmed by the cold.....I may have to pocket the babies if the power goes out (as talking heads are saying may happen)

Dang it ! I have the generator ready.......but hate going out at 3 A.M. in a horizontal hurricane to hook up extension cords and start the generator !!!!!!!!!!!!
