Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Well that was a windy drive back from Lakewood tonight. Thankfully I only had one trailer to bring back instead of 2 like usual. Made it a little easier to keep in the lane with gusts to 45mph as a headwind. Gonna have to put the pontoons on the tractor and trailers tonight with 3+ inches of rain forecast in the next 12 hours. Ugh

I want to buy Blue Copper Maran eggs to hatch next week! I'm hoping to find someone close so the eggs dont have to go through as much trauma to get here :)... anyone have eggs to sell? I'll pay for priority shipping as well as for the eggs!! I'd love 6-12 eggs to add to the BCM's I'm putting in the bator next sunday.... ANYONE??!!
Try pinkchick here on BYC. I'm pretty sure she raises them. I've gotten eggs from her before but not sure what she has available right now. None of my Marans are laying at the moment.

Itsren, sometimes the saddle feathers come on later. It just depends on the breed. Usually the first thing that gives it away is the red waddles but thats not a guarantee either. There are early maturing pullets and late maturing cockerels too. Mixed breeds will probably throw everything off. The breed I have been wrong on the most is the Orpingtons. I take out pretty early all the big combs and red waddles thinking the rest are probably hens. Then sure enough half those hens will end up being roos! Sometimes ya just gotta wait, and wait and wait. LOL I like the Wheaten Marans and Ameraucanas. You can tell very early the roos by their coloring. The hens will be totally Wheaten with a small amount of black in their tails, the roos will have no wheaten at all and black chests and tails with straw to coppery saddle and hackle feathers.

GOOD LORD, THIS LATE LATE BEDTIME STUFF NEEDS TO STOP! How ironic that I always feel exhausted but can't seem to go to bed before 1am + !!!
I was finally able to sleep last night! Slept 9 hours. I was long overdue. Finally broke down and had a little help but it was worth it.

One thing I heard helps you fall asleep is to count 1 as you breath in and 2 as you breathe out. The intention is to distract you from all the busyness and stress in your mind and changes your focus. Kind of like counting sheep but that has never worked for me and I think this is different as you are doing the counting with your breathing. Also, you can lay on you back and starting with your toes imagine them relaxing and slowly work your way up, and make sure you relax your face and jaw. Sometimes I start out doing that and find out I've tensed it up again!

I know! Dang rain. Looks like I will be harvesting in the rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. But finally located my rain pants so that will help a lot. Last week I soaked through 2 pairs of sweat pants before I finally gave up.
