Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hi everyone. I'm a newb in Gig Harbor. Been lurking and decided to join.
I've never had chickens but have always wanted to try raising a small flock for the eggs.
We just moved here, our new house has a coop, so I am learning.
I'm thinking 3 hens to start
What advice would you give someone just starting out?

Id be willing to meet in Seattle!
How much are you asking for her?

And I knew I was being stupid by not waiting until we were home so I could check her. She's one of the girls who've gone broody in the last week or so. She almost took my hand off

No worries, and thank you for the offer.
I found two young brabanter hens near me Ill be getting tomorrow!

The snow is almost gone here. Been able to let the chickens out into the yard more this week.
The tamest chickens I have are my speckled Sussex. But one of them fights me every time I reach to pet her. What's up with that? She doesn't run away and she lets me pick her up but she bites my hand when I reach for her.
