I give mine lots of goodies also meal worms little corn, boss, yesterday they all had a nice cool meal of cooked carrots, pumpkin and oatmeal cooled it over night in fridge and gave it to them when it was 90 degrees outside they were loving it.I give lots of goodies all around like now it yogurt and cool oatmeal, watermelon fresh broccoli and cauliflower lots of egg shells or scrambled eggs, meal worms goodies

None of what I write next really applies to this here, it just got me thinking.
Spurs don't always mean rooster. I had a silver ameraucana hen with half inch spurs. Granted hens don't normally grow them until more mature except for specific breeds.
Just as lack of spurs doesn't mean hen. My silkie roosters do not grow spurs.

I have had a few hens grow spurs, small needle-like ones...never heard one crow, and never seen hackle on a hen
