Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Have you been watching the thread? If you want I could get a batch of the natural farm feed and split it with you or what ever I am thinking about trying some don't think we would save much but looks like good feed. I wouldn't be able to start getting it till mid August for the trial batch but after that if I or we like it I could continue to grab it from Spokane. Let me know what you think.

Just an off the wall post here, but we have to attend a funeral Tuesday, in Cheney....if it were easy to do, we could maybe pick up a mess of feed from where ever this place is...no promises.

OMG they are sooooooooooooooooooooooo adorable !!!

I miss hatching already....
That said, I am going to sell my Professional Model Sportsman cabinet incubator....I will keep the smaller hatcher.

Anyone interested, give me a PM.
The incubator has the 5 gal bucket, and tray so water is automatic...it works flawlessly !!!
You can hatch in it also...not sure on a price yet.

Morning gang anyone have banty eggs for sale... my egg customer wants to pickle a dozen...
Seeing how no one answered I took the white breese x whatever unwanted cockerel to auction for morning start in Chehalis and am going to see if I might be able to buy some banty eggs for my egg customer :clap:barnie:wee:bun

We have ALOT of eggs from my Exchequer leghorns that are a step above a bantam egg, they are about the size of a small to smallish-medium commercial egg size.
I bred the exchequer to a blue OE, and now we have hordes of blue of these birds, I call them "Willies" (as we are on the Willapa.....they lay a blue to blue green egg.
I really really like them, they take care of themselves, eat very little and a super foragers !

I've hatched them together. Chickens hatch first and I got them in the brooder and waited for the ducks. Read online humidity and temp for ducks and everything hatched.

Me too !

But geese are another matter.
For my life, I have figured geese to be nothing more than a big duck...how annoying would it be to have so many geese !?!?!
I was so, so so very wrong.
Geese are more like dogs than ducks !
Oh yes they love water, but that is about where it stops.
They rarely dabble & eat mud like ducks, they are fine out of water.
They imprint & follow me every where !
They run to me when they see me pull in the driveway...and they honk & raise hell if there is a strange car, let alone a strange human, anywhere around.
Now incubation is different too...geese require dampening & sometimes drilling of a tiny hole for air in the large end of the egg.
It is all referred to in the post on BYC about hatching goose eggs, fascinating really !
I attempt my first goose egg hatching next spring, and man oh man do I love these geese !

The plants help keep it cool in the coop. I have pots on the afternoon side blocking sun from the bottom.

Now that most all of my chicks are grown, the baby pen is empty except for 5 Sulmtaler babies............so I planted my girls ( ;) ) in there...great fertilizer after raising chickens in there for so many years !

A couple weeks ago I got two little eggs that I assume our firm my youngest chickens. But there hasn't been any more little eggs sense. It seems like when my others started Lane they pretty much laid consistently. Is it unusual to have a big break between the first and second eggs?
