Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Having a bad week lost a Golden laced Wyandotte hen last night I seen her sitting around yesterday in the run and she was there in same spot last night when I closed things up I checked her then didn't notice any crop problems have no idea what happened there was also an EE doing the same type of thing but she snapped out of it. I have had them free ranging for the past 3 days don't know what they got into I don't put any kind of poison out ever my black lab would find it in minutes so never use it. This. Hen was about 8 months old pretty girl hate to have lost her.

the Wyandotte where did you get her from please first question you also have been getting really bad heat yes I wonder if some may not be more in trouble that we may realize with it.. was she still laying do you know?

She was a hatchery bird got her and 9 others as mail order chicks last fall 5 golden laced Wyandotte and 5 Buff Orpington. Yes she had been laying nice big heavy healthy bird, it has been really hot over her for quite a wile now I'm doing all I can for them I haven't been putting electrolytes in there water think I should? I have been giving them cool water 3 times a day and have fans blowing plus opening everything up. I have to shut doors at night because the coyotes have been all over after dark but windows are open plus fans. They are still hot though and so am I, just got done mowing one lawn thought I was going to die. Inside now nice and cool going to can beans and apricots plus blanch and freeze pea pods and broccoli. Need to pick crooked neck squash tonight ever blanch and freeze those? Going to try it need to pick cabbage too and beets. Lots and lots of potatoes and tomatoes out there to. I didn't get garden planted till June 7th this year and it's a jungle out there unbelievable the corn is looking awesome to. I planted April first last year.

Completely off topic.
I'm in rural Snohomish out towards Monroe. Has anyone had any problems with Blackhead disease in this area? Or know if it's a problem in Washington state in general?
I have turkeys and chickens and wanted to potentially give them a combined run space, but keep their coops separate.

junebug actually told me loosing one quiet young that they can drop off earlier for unknown causes than like the ones I got from her.. although my original 5 are all hatchery birds

Thank you.
I'm so hesitant to mix them. The turkeys are seriously my little loves ( well they are pretty big now, haha ) I just don't want it to be my rotten bad luck I end up having blackhead in my yard.
I should introduce myself. I'm Shannon. My family is pretty new to chickens and turkeys. We got some chicks and poults from our local Co op and we are having a blast with them.
We have 2 Narragansett Turkeys, and 4 chickens.. a Delaware, Rhode Island Red, Buff Orpington and French Wheaton Maran.
We are in the Snohomish area as I mentioned. Originally from San Diego.
Nice to meet everyone!

Anyone feed there birds Calendula I planted about a half of a raised bed and a few grow bags full I have picked over 1,200 flowers so far and they are just getting started picking about 200 a day now. They are supposed to have many health benefits including boosting the immune system. You can also make saves for cuts, scraps and sunburn and make tea.
