The garter snake wasn't harmed. I moved it where Leia couldn't torment it right after I snapped the picture.

They like to sun on the gravel when it starts turning cooler. The german shepherd likes to go sniff them and drool, but she's never hurt them. I'm not sure what the drooling is about. Snakes are the only thing that makes her do it.

Fear the gsd is a great shrew catcher or vole? then she also gets the bigger gophers just wait till they stick their heads up and their dead she is 15 but still acts like a kid

Looking for information about having chickens in the city limits of Port Angeles. Any local pollo know? We rent in town but are planning to buy in next year or so. I really want 3 or 4 hens and a rabbit, and can find nothing online if it's OK in the city limits.
It will help decide if we look in the city or go out for an acre or so.
I'm hoping to split the difference, we need to stay in our sons school district, but if we buy I really want a hobby farm...I'd settle for some hens at this point.

Too bad you aren't further south. I've got a bunch of pullets and a few rabbits for sale.

I live in PA too, or technically just outside city limits. The only thing I've been able to find on the City of Port Angeles as far as livestock ordinance is the Clallam County ordinances. Which don't list anything in re: to poultry really. I would assume in city limits you might be restricted by noise ordinances but as far as anything else in all my research I haven't been able to find anything online. PA doesn't have their own Animal Control officer, and poultry issues are not listed as their job description either.

When it comes to buying a home you may be restricted by each communities CC&R's. A knowledgable realtor can help you find that info. Ours was great about getting us the CC&R's so we could determine on each property we liked if we would be limited or restricted. Some we were and some we weren't. The house we fell in love with is older and unrestricted by CC&R's. It's on 2.5 acres so our neighbors aren't super close and some of them have chickens & roosters too. Hope this helps. And I hope all your chicken dreams come true! We just started this spring and it's been so much fun! You won't regret it... Although beware the chicken math!!!
