Watched the dogs work as a team to take out a rodent. It snuck into a pen to try for chicken food and they went after it. It ran into a hole just on the other side of the fence. Athena waited watching while Zeus ran out of the pen and around. He dug it out but had to drop it to get a better grip. It ran through the fence and into the waiting Athena who also didn't get a good grip so it ran back out and Zeus stomped it before it tried through the fence one last time. Athena got it good that time. Zeus ran back around to check out their handywork.

good dogs...... I have watched Fear and the cats she pulls shakes they eat them

The dogs steal the voles from the cats. Voles are a popular snack here it seems.

Only young rats get eaten and only by Zeus or certain hens. Big ones get tossed out in the field for the ravens.

Everything else is someones favorite.

Well the good news is that Ive only seen a couple rats in the last two weeks and Athena killed them both. Another good sign is that the rodent she made me move a chicken coop for today was a vole. That's the second one this week. We don't see many voles if there are rats.

So maybe we've gotten rid of them again. Last time we did, we made it about 8 months before more showed up.

There are three feral cats that come here at night when my cats are inside. I know they catch the younger rats as I've seen them. The dogs take care of any older large ones.
