One of my Marans Hens has a button fedish she jumps on my leg and pecks the hem out of the buttons on my shirt just won’t stop.

I love our chickens only been chicken slaves for 9 months but they are so worth it!

I grew up in a different time their purpose was food others we butchered so 50 year's later I was with that behind me the birds give me a reason to get up in the morning the bonus is eggs I sell making enough to buy their food build them a new coop in time I cannot say I don't enjoy them I do the silky I know they are not real chickens

The chickens and my ducks are the reason I get up too... I have other animals but they are more forgiving on feeding times lol I have to butcher 3 or 4 of my hens that are grown but haven't ever done it before. I haven't decided if I will do it or have my friend do it

I watched a couple you tube videos on how to butcher and seen one with boiling the water. My mom grew up on her granny farm and she said the worst part was plucking the chicken lol she couldn't stand the holes that it left in the skin. I haven't ever killed an animal period let alone food. So will be interesting to see if I can do this!

Make a cone of plywood stretch the neck into it then cut the head off make the cone so there is not wiggle room or do broom method cutting the head off after

You make it sound so easy lol I wish I could have grown up on a farm. I didn't name my chickens hoping that would help

My silky are named the cockerels maybe no others i was taught that you don't name something you may eat
