I’m around been mowing the plantation my second Maran broody only hatched 5 out of 18 eggs is there a problem with them sitting on that many that would case such a low hatch. It’s much better today so far about 85 out yesterday was 99 degrees that cooked my brain

18 is what I would say was too many we use to do just 6 per birds with the leghorns now with my 4 silky the 12 was great my ameracauna only has 5

We are upper 88's here hot as all get out not doing much outside during the day
went into auction surprised myself dropped off two banty laying little white eggs
got 22 for them when I got there they said birds where going for high prices today..
couple little white silky looked liked they just had baths all fluffy

I won’t do that again with so many eggs under broody didn’t know any better thought I would try it. It’s getting hot here now low 90s taking shelter enough outside work for today.

I've found that it can. Hens shift the eggs around and the outer ones can get too cold. Hen a marans size I wouldn't give more than a dozen. Make sure they are all fully able to fit under her.

Hens can cover more chicks than eggs. Chicks will move themselves around under then hen as they get too warm and cold. I usually incubate the eggs and give out the chicks when I'm doing a lot.

Last year I filled the bator and gave eggs to two silkies. About 30 chicks total. The chicks did fine for the most part but the hens were stressed. I won't ever give that many chicks per hen again.

We have two window ACs that keep the house very nice. One's in the bedroom, one in the livingroom. Have to be cold at night for a good sleep.

Helps this is a tiny house so it's cheap to heat and cool.

I've tried to do my outdoor work in the evening

We have the two one in the office one is the living room need to possibly put one in
each bedroom if we keep getting the higher temps into the nights too hard to get to sleep

Finally processed the last five Cornish x two 12 pounds a 14, 15 and a whopping 16 pounder there is enough breast meat there for 15 birds I swear.

you must have somewhere to do allot of this in the cool or use to
the heat I am impressed

Got up at 5am but it was 92 by the time I finished the last one
