Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

We do eat extra roosters here. Some do end up as pets. Some, like Ashes, because he's my only white rooster and is happy to pose for pictures. Others, like Snape, insist on being a pet.

Im out in the country though, so it doesn't matter if I have roosters.

I've recently noticed a side effect with the breeding for extra friendliness is that the roosters don't crow as much. Just a few times a day. Not like the ameraucana roosters that wouldn't shut up

No. Can't feather sex unless you crossbreed slow and fast feathering breeds.

Tails don't mean anything. I've had males and females get the tails in later than hatchmates.

Can get a good idea by looking at the Combs if you know what your looking for after they are a few weeks old.

Not silkies so should be able to tell around 8 weeks for sure. I have a 4 week old hatchery "ameraucana" I'm thinking is a boy, but the comb hasn't pinked up or gotten bigger yet. It is showing all 3 rows of peas which are usually boys.

Your pretty good at the silky I know this, I have learned on a good share of breeds what is pullet .. I will admit the Onalaska feed store is pretty good about what they get in but even they say EE is Ameracauna :he
