No I’m good, he killed hens and chicks. I didn’t think he could get those big claws through the cage like a raccoon but he sure did. I have 2 dozen eggs in the incubator they should hatch Sunday, in lockdown now.

I had set for Halloween hatch you know that I have 2 pullet 1 cockerel of marans so am hatching a few to take up space in the spring still considering letting the ameracauna go and put the marans but I know how good he is to the girls and babies never bare back flaps his wings I flap back that is the worst so easy to get along with

I’m wondering do smaller eggs hatch a little earlier than bigger eggs? I have a cream Legbar that is starting to peck a little crack in the shell this is day 20. It’s the smallest egg in the incubator.

Mine died went in the coop like a week ago she was on the roost table slumped over
not a mark on her

My silkies always hatch a day early in the incubator compared to ameraucana

Silky have two all black peeps 4 not hatched yet but took them over three days so not really surprised one takes peeps the other two cover eggs

I guess I should build a little silky coop one of these days to hatch eggs and take care of peeps, sounds like they do a good job.

I love that they work very well in pairs or groups to raise chicks. Even hens who aren't raising chicks will come to defence if you grab a chick and it screams. I think the only thing that deters some of them from all out vicious attacks on me is that they know me and know I won't actually hurt the chicks.
