Hello! I'm new to BYC. This thread just got referred to me. I'm a ducky mom from Cosmopolis, WA. I've got two girls, eight months old. It's already been quite an adventure, and the adventure continues. My goal is to make their lives as long and happy as possible. My profile pic is my fav baby photo of them. The brown one is Marchesa, the yellow is Lilikoi.

Hello, I've been on BYC a few weeks but this is my first post on this thread. I live near Olympia. Several weeks ago we got 9 chicks! We lost 2 to coccidiosis, but we have 7 still doing well. We have 2 cuckoo marans, 3 easter eggers, a silver laced wyandotte and a buff orpington. We built their coop and run ourselves from salvaged materials. We are having so much fun with our chickens and hoping to get some day old chicks in late winter/early spring!

Sorry you lost a few. I always keep Corrid on hand in case anyone shows symptoms of Cocci. A small chicken first aid kit is good.

Yes, I have some now and building my kit for sure. Mine were about 7-8 weeks when it hit, and they went from no symptoms to dead within a few hours. The others started showing some symptoms when the second one was dying, so we did treat them all with corid and the 7 are good now. I think the 2 that died must have had weaker immune systems. I am very paranoid now!
