Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Fingers crossed it keeps getting better

I guess it's better - sun's out, what an amazing sight!

I was able to run a load of laundry today and the septic alarms didn't all flare back to life, so woohoo. As a precaution we're still on low water usage (driving hubby crazy, he wants to take a 10 min long shower and I'm sitting there timing him, saying, "You have 45 seconds to shower.)"

Chickens are currently in a favored grooming spot, grooming. They even got access to the dust bath today (their Little Tikes turtle sandbox got picked up by the flood water and moved about 12", but the interior contents stayed bone dry).

Finally was able to go out and assess the damage to the yard. The storm swollen current was strong enough to pick up some resin stepping stones from the front of chicken run, dumping one as far away as 250' away, into the stormwater pond. It also ripped out multiple lengths of 4"x4"x8' beams that were buried to divide the gravel walkway from the lawn - those ended up a good 150' away, caught in blackberry bushes. The same gravel is severely gouged out in spots and got deposited across the lawn. I was afraid the current even destroyed the stone retaining edging on the creek but it turns out it just looks like that because the water is so high and still spilling over the creek edge. So I'm going to be busy doing some hardscape work this upcoming week, it seems...
