Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

This might be an odd question but for those with female cats, what did you do to prepare them the night before their spay surgery??
I know vets will tell owners what should be done but I'm doing some reading online about it because I'm now able to get Nyx spayed this year! Yay!
I already know that they can't have food/water during the night before the surgery.

Easier if not pregnant also .. that is it.
She's never been pregnant. Whenever she went into heat, I would lock her and myself in my bedroom until it was over. I've been doing this since her first heat.
She was supposed to be spayed last year in the beginning but then covid happened. A few trustworthy vets are slowly reopening up for non-emergency and that includes spaying/neutering appointments.
When they closed last year for non-emergency, I started feeling like a bad owner for not doing it sooner but I didn't have the money for it until then.

The neighbor has lake cabin she had like 15 stray ferals done then homed them great Gal ...
We have three outside kitties we brought all boys all altered. Boys are so easy to do ...

There's a lot of outside spayed females here but only one neighbor has an unaltered male that keeps getting beat up by our male. I feel terrible every time but the neighbors keep telling me that it's fine.
