Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

how do you deal with the wet weather?
Well, I have only ducks (and 2 goats) so I think it is a bit different than with chickens.

My ducks have a 10x10 room in the barn, having plenty of space is key for them so they stay dry. Their outside aviary is 30x30 and just hardware cloth on the top - not covered with a solid roof. It stays grassy and soft for their feet, because I divided it in two. When it gets a bit thin I reseed and move them to the other half. So I don't have a problem with mud in their areas. We get a bit muddy in some spots on the way to the barn where we walk frequently... but then I just walk around them. I wear a coat, I have a big kind of cowboy hat for pouring days and just a knit hat for sprinkling days. On cold days I wear winter water proof snow boots. I've had them for 20+ years! Otherwise I wear the plastic kind of rain boots kids might jump in puddles with. :-D But... yeah sometimes it feels like I am swimming through the tall dewy grasses in the mornings. Mostly I try to just look at it from a positive perspective. Water is life! And the plants are happy. Then I go snuggle with my cat under a warm blanket and drink some tea.

Edit: And I recommend getting fleece boot socks for your rain boots! It makes them so much more comfortable!

Morning State of all places I bought rubber boots at walmart .. They have a wider top :bow
Have had them going on maybe 4 years also have a pair of ll bean golashes may run a few scres out the bottom
a trick I learned to make them solid in mud
My boots are supposed to be great quality, but they are always cracking and I fix them with shoe glue. 🙄
