Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Bit of a rough week here. A neighbor had some trees taken down on the fence line and when my flock heard the chainsaws they freaked the heck out. Same thing the week before ended up with five of them flying over or shoving under the fencing. I thought catching them was trouble. But this time one of my five month old silver laced wyandottes injured her leg.

This happened Sunday, she was limping hard, and not putting one foot fully on the ground, walking tiptoed. I put her up in the coop that day, and managed to get the whole flock closed up. The next two days she managed to get into and out of the coop on her own, ate and drank, but spent all of her time lying down in a few different spots. Today I had to lift her out of the coop. She is still eating, but also still in a lot of pain.

Various other hens come and lay with her during the day, and she moves to different spots following the shade or sun depending on temp. I think the flock support is good for her and I don't want her to lose her place in the group as being young she is already pretty low. The rooster has his eye on her, and she seems safe. I just wish she wasn't so hurt, and a little worried about losing her if she can't recover.

Not sure any are left on the west side
It is pretty easy to do ?
Yeah, I really just want someone to hold my hand until I get the killing part down pat. 🥲

...I Don't suppose anyone in the Seattle area wants a few meat birds in exchange for supervising me through the culling process?
