Hey fellow washingtonians! Our flock homesteads on a nice 1/2 acre lot near Lake Tapps ( just above Sumner).

Is everyone here enjoying our spring so far? (NOT!). We get chicks about 8 weeks ago thinking the cold weather is behind us - what a surprise

Luckily they are fully feathered now plus I moved their heating panel into the coop - so far so good

I'm not sure on the heat weaning much anymore as I prefer to let the broodies raise them

Molly now has 5 chicks. Im now pretty sure she had additions added early on. Last few have a couple days to go.

We have the 9 in tall brooder but they have no learned to fly out yet .. BF said the 2 with banty one seems to be a roo the other a pullet. This group of nine is not sexed at all yet.

We tried turning it off this morning but then checked the camera and some of the smaller ones were huddled by it so went out and put it back on low. They have only been out of the 70 degree house for a week now and some are still acclimating it appears

Good morning here in the rain. We just re-homed a small flock of Silver Laced Barnevelders to some very nice people. And their eggs in the incubator have started pipping! Now we just need to get those chicks hatched and sold
