I have a BCM who laid for the first time yesterday 24 weeks after hatch, but the second with her group, the one that laid sooner, was a brown leghorn.

Smoking salmon here today. Not a huge amount. Hubby really wanted some and I'll probably take a chunk down to Mom and Dad.

Couldn't find my pliers I normally use for pin bones last night so tried the shrimp scissors. I'm not going back to pliers. Worked much better with no damage because those scissors are small and curved. Glad I'd bought a spare pair in case one breaks.

Hatchery bird? If it was from a breeder I'd be a bit disappointed in the egg color. Of course cameras can make them look off depending on lighting as well
