Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Smudge is bigger than most my hens. He is a Blue Marans.
You can see my hens are not looking bare backed or broken.
Make sure give his teen hormones time give them a break from them also.

I don't think there is a lazy bone in your body. You are up before the sun starting a fire and putting the coffee on. Chickens are out at the crack of dawn. I admire your energy.
Oh gosh, thank you, I do get going 😅 but I do wear myself out, I did try and not do stuff today but holy cow, I stayed on top of keeping the wood stove going, did all the dishes, put the furniture back where it was before Christmas, vacuumed, fixed dinner, and now sitting in my chair about to do some reading. I am drinking water I am feeling thirsty and have a light headache,, going get my vitamins I sure had better not be coming down with the local crud.

We woke up to heavy fog this morning. So glad for a break from precipitation. Had to catch a pullet after roost time so I could check on why she had bloody vent feathers. Gave her an Epsom salt wash. She has been acting normal all day. Full crop, no hardness in abdomen. Normal looking vent. Does this happen sometimes, with no ill effect? She is in a pet carrier inside tonight, drying off. I may give her a break from her 2 hormonal brothers. They are 22.5 wks old, and are mounting anyone who will let them, and one always fights the other one off any hens/pullets. Teenagers!

Maybe give your hens a break from those hormonal boys for a while? Do you have a separate place you can keep them until they are a little older?

Ah, your secret is going to bed early. That's why you are up building fires when the rest of us are still sitting in bed rubbing our eyes.
