Sorry you lost Alice. I kind of wonder about my Wilco chickens. One of them continues to lay huge double yolk eggs, so I'm guessing she'll have some kind of reproductive issues some day.We are supposed to have a couple of nice days. Would love to uncover the table and chairs and sit on the deck. I have a book I want to read.
On a sadder note, I lost Alice, a Lavender Orpington who was 4 years old yesterday. I have no idea why. She just died. It has been my experience with chicks from Wilco that they don't live long lives, although I do have three Australorprs who are 6 years old, and they are from Wilco. Always sad to lose one.
I have a fairly serious broody right now, and with Cooper here to fertilize eggs, I am very hopeful for her.
Oh yes, they do. And now that Cooper has the run of the flock, he is stepping in to the role like a real pro. I'm so impressed that a young cockerel would act so much like a rooster. I truly believe he learned from Pippi, and is excited to have the top spot for himself. It's really nice to have a completely peaceful flock again.Sorry you lost Alice. Have you checked any eggs to see if they have the bullseye mark, showing that they're fertilized?
