Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

We LOVE our friends in Washington State and we know y'all love to chat! The original Washingtonians thread has over 80,000 replies which is AMAZING!

It's great to see peeps who love raising backyard chickens come together, but all that discussion in a 5 year old thread is bogging down the server when we do updates. For this reason we're starting this new Washingtonians thread.

Rest assured that the entire original Washingtonians thread will remain closed from new replies, but completely intact. You'll be able to reference, search, and read it any time!

Please continue all of your great discussions here.

Thanks to all our Washington friends for being (chatty) members of our wonderful community!!!!
Hi!

Well my afternoon was fun. I was out free ranging with the chickens today and heard some scratching sound from behind me, turned and looked and wondered why a person in a bear costume was hugging a tree. Except it wasn't a person in a bear costume.

I herded the chickens back to the run, then as I was cleaning up inside I noticed the bear had now emerged from the woods and was heading up the creek which sits about 10' from the run, so I locked myself in the run with the coop door open (sorry chickens, but if it decides to try something it's me first into the coop) and watched it walk by.

Once it was all clear I went back in to get the dogs for a walk, and on the walk, who do we run into? The bear, eating out of someone's trash can. The dogs looked at the bear, the bear looked at us, we left him with his trash and went home.

I was not feeding them. I was trying to get my bowl back. And one wanted a head scratch.

I do have to be careful, when feeding my chickens, they demand food, and will hoof me if i don't give them some.

They get very dangerous. Mom said they would stalk her at the cabin.

They tend to wander off away from me here if Im on foot. They ignore me if Im on the mower. I could touch them on that.

That would get the hart racing.
