Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Moved the 15 drama queens and their Moms to a pen. They are getting bigger. None of the other hens get more than one peck in on a chick before they get beat.

One chick decided to jump from the broody coop and hide (successfully) in the grass. Partridge is camo in any environment with plants and silkies can sit perfectly still for hours. Had to get the dog to find him. Ares has been learning to help me move chickens and listens fairly well. Once he understood the mission, he found the chick and pulled it out for me.

Nice to have that no doubt I do think snow has grown the patience.
She is not the wild pup anymore still not ready to try it out.:frow
Something is going on with my incubator the bigger one eggs where rolling in the shell like 4 where. now not one rolls ?

That's odd. Maybe naps? Ive had them do that

I think a dang mouse died behind my water heater. And the only way to look behind it would be trying to use a mirror, looking into the reflection from the top-rear of the WH. It stinks!

On the positive side of things, my attempt at dehydrating flat leaf parsley in the storage container was going too slow. The leaves are maybe half dry after three days.

Last month I found an electric dehydrator at a yard sale for $1.00. It was filthy, but none of the plastic was broken or cracked so I got it.

I washed the trays and top in the dishwasher, but the base was disgusting! I think they made jerky with it a few years age and put it away dirty. I finally cleaned the base this morning.

The heating element works, but the little metal clips that secure it to the base are partially rusted away. I was still able to get it assembled.

Anyway... I just transferred the parsley into the top 2 trays of the dehydrator, set it outside and plugged it in. Hopefully it works.

I have that same Ronco dehydrator. My favorite thing I ever did with it was make fruit leather with little red plums. There was one year we had plums everywhere! Of course that never happened again! Lol

So it's a Ronco, huh. I looked but couldn't find the brand. That's the Ronco of the Ron Popeil infomercials, right? The inventor of the pocket fisherman?

I used a mirror and flashlight, looked behind the water heater and no mouse! Strange. I've looked everywhere in that room!

It's in a bedroom that I'm using for storage. I guess I'll transfer all the stuff into the other bedroom to find out if the smell follows the stuff.

All 6 hens gave me an egg this morning. Come on, molt already! I'm getting kind of tired of eating eggs, and they could probably use a break.

Their feathers are looking kind of dirty-yellowish anyway and they could use new coats for the winter.

Yup! My son and I saw his commercial and he was making jerky. We got all excited and the day the thing came E. coli was all over the news. I never did do any jerky, I got grossed out, you know?

I have to admit I always want to laugh every time I think about Ron Popeil, wasn’t it Saturday Night Live that did a sketch about the Ronco Bass-o-Matic? And the Chinch Ranch? :gig

I can't air dry anything here with our humidity. Mom can hang stuff outside and it's dry a couple hours later
