Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

The zucchini boat turned out great, but next time I'll add bread crumbs to the filling to soak up the juice.

Thanks! I wish I had one of those trees here.

To add:
According to this they're more likely to grow near wetlands. Maybe I can look around by water here and find some.

I have dozens. We are wet usually. Tons along the streams. I normally just pick from the 3 along the fenceline at the driveway because easy access and sturdy ground. Plus they are old trees so produce a lot.

Red ones just get more sun out in the field. Still green a bit. They are slightly yellow when ripe

It's definitely not evergreen over here, at least the yard. Grass hasn't grown for months, I only have to mow down the weeds every so often.
Still green for me, the blessing/curse of having abundant ground water that's so close to the surface you can just shovel your way down to it.

Thanks to your pics I was able to identify a crabapple tree alongside the road this morning! Same grouping of fruit.

My neighbor has one in his yard. We're definitely not wetlands. It rains enough at your place I'm sure.
I went to the community cleanup dropoff this morning on Winlock-Vader road just south of town to drop off a freezer, tv and computer monitor, and saw a big 30 foot tall crabapple tree beside the road. The road is in the Olequa creek valley, and it's pretty wet in that area. Lots of cattails and skunk cabbage along the roadside.

Hardwood cuttings in November for propagation. I looked it up last week because I want to dry up a wetter spot out front and don't want just the alder and willow. Plus side is trees are the only way to kill the canary grass.

I collected seeds out of cedar cones last week. Those I'll plant in pots this spring and hope for some. I need a few for higher spots out there.

Noticed red mites under the roof/lid of one of the coops yesterday. Forgot until too late. Took some Kaboom out and sprayed them today. Just had to leave lid up until dry. Everyone will get treated tonight.

Kaboom kills the suckers instantly. According to Mom it kills wasps as well.

Dawn dish detergent and water is deadly to bugs.
