Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Hose on hot water outlet burst in middle of night Saturday. That was fun. Good thing I get up to pee. Turned off well and heater to deal with in daylight. Got hose replaced. All good. Tiny trickle of hot water in faucets.

Drained tank yesterday and flushed. No improvement. Figured we'd need to replace, but I kept messing with the faucets to build a bit of pressure and drain quickly. Got the dang thing to finally sputter and flush the clog. Lots of sediment. Ruined the shower head inside even though I had removed and ran clear beforehand.

Shower was full water before went to town. Came back with new shower head and turned on to flush out more. Tiny trickle of water from both hot and cold.

I screamed. Then started beating the pipe with my pliers. Well that worked to unclog it. AMS standard procedure worked. AKA get a bigger hammer.

Oh my gosh! What a dilemma! I'm glad you got it fixed. I shouldn't laugh, but what a comedy of trials.

I would not have known how to turn off the well!!! Or the heater!!!

We don't have shut off valves. Really need them. Do have a well marked breaker box

Oh it was probably hilarious when I screamed and started beating down the pipe with the faucet open. When I told hubby he just said that the pliers arent a hammer. Everything is a hammer

Oh heck ya if we have to darn it.

Good morning, Washington! It's foggy on the river this morning. 35 degrees at the moment, but no rain predicted until tonight sometime.

Apparently we do have a shut off switch for the well. I guess I'm glad to know that, but it's at the bottom of the stairs. We have a utility basement that houses the water heaters, conditioners and filters. I never go down there.

Water heater sprung a leak late last night, thankfully I heard the hissing sound as I walked by after finishing the dishes. Nothing like googling "How to shut off gas to water heater" "How to shut off water to water heater" and "How to drain water heater" at 11 PM.

Plumbers are here now installing a new one. Figured I'd have them take a look at a drippy sink while here, and they found 4 other valves that were leaking too. Joy. :(

It must be that time of year. Watching our water system closely!!!

Well... (haha pun) I know where the main water shutoff valve is nearest the well's pressure tank, and where the water shutoff valve is under the house. If there's a leak I'll turn off the water at one of those.

I filled the big chicken and baby chicken feeders and waterers, cleaned all the nasty bedding out of the coop and put it on one of my raised beds. Shoveled more bedding onto the coop floor.

I'm about ready to block the coop off from the big chickens and make them sleep in the secure run. I need to convert the coop into a grow out pen for the chicks.
