Here is the plans I threw together for my soundproof coop that should be completed over the next few weeks hopefully:

Anything missing? The windows for ventilation, and the doors will have a chicken wire kind of screen on the inside for extra ventilation and fresh air in the summer. We already have the coop on site, we just need to soundproof it and fix up some things.

Can I ask how you are going to make it sound proof AND have adequate ventilation all the time? Just trying to get a picture of that part. Because ventilation at all times is important.

The windows will open. During reasonable hours of course. I can't have roosters where I live but need them. This is the best I could come up with that has a lot of ventilation and is best in my situation.

Well my pvc hooped roofs stand up to wind and rain, but not 3 inches of snow. Bahh! Slope apparently isn't steep enough, or the tarp isn't smooth enough. They are getting real roofs like CR's in the spring at the latest.

It is really tough to get enough slope to make snow slide off a tarp with out help. You will find that even netting will plug with snow and collapse. The roof like I showed has worked very well for several years. While it costs more than tarp. If done well you will be happy for many years to come. Mine has withstood Wind that did severe damage to the stables. It has also had 30" of snow with no problem. Also if one were so inclined it wouldn't take much more to turn it into a small "barn" that I think could probably escape regulations since it would just be a dog kennel with tin for wind break. Of course where I am we don't worry about such things.

Blast this weather! Without power & my chicks are cold, luckily, they're almost 3 months old & half feathered. I guess this is my reminder to go to light/dark stages with my lighting & lower the temp.
Yesterday in all that wind my roof blew off the coop! I'm afraid to look today. Did I mention the power is out? I had hoped to work on the coop some before work. Doesn't look like that'll happen.
Anyone else without power? Or have more than my measly 1/2" dusting of snow?

We only have about 1-2" here. T Hi said they have 4-5" in Bonney Lake. And the poor girl has to go drive bus. Seems here district (Kent) is still running on time!!!!

There needs to be some ventilation open or operational 24/7. Especially at night when they are all in there. Things can go bad really fast if you can't provide ventilation at night too. Maybe look into those ventilation fan things like they have on top of barns?

OK So you say you "NEED" roosters. Are you planning on breeding? I would assume that you know ROOSTERS ARE NOT needed to get eggs. Roosters are only needed if one wants fertile eggs for hatching!!!

Yes, I am. I'm going to start showing/breeding heritage RC RIR Bantams. There is less than 100 in breeding pens this winter. I am planning on helping conserve the breed. And I will talk to the person who is helping me build this about adding a fan or something similar to what we have in the LF coop for ventilation....
