Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Um yea, not much different then FB if you ask me, I know I heard a report that said, that this generation, because of all the electronic mail, communications, ect, have lost the ability to communicate face to face or have a decent relationship with others, because, they can pretty much say what ever they want, because you can hide behind an email, and not look someone in the eyes when you speak to them!

I hope this isn't confusing to anyone. But hi!!
No, I know it looks like I'm a new peep but that's not true. I've been here since 2/2010.
Apparently my machine eliminated the "cookie" and I had to re-sign in. That didn't work. So after trying all day to sign in and contacting the powere that be (with no response) they kept telling me they sent the info to my mail box. Funny, I never received it. Huh, every tom, dick and harry can get me a message but not these guys. IDK.
Hopefully I will get this corrected in the near future. Mike

I didn't have surgury when I tore my right rotator cuff (I'm afraid of surgery unless it's an absolute). The doctor had me doing physical therapy on it. Took almost 2 years for it to heal all the way. I feel for you. I remember those days when I had maybe 4 inches of movement without extreme pain. It sucked not being able to use my right hand for stuff since I am right handed. I did get back some of the ambidexterity I used to have when I was younger. Now I'm just as likely to carry on either arm.

FYI I know some others of us have had to report to HOUSTON that WE HAVE A PROBLEM this eve ! ! !!

Well, it seems that last winter, it simply stopped one day and was spring for a couple of days, then that stopped and it was summer. Then just recently summer stopped and winter started. I looked out one morning and the leaves were all over the ground and what a mess!

Hope you get the roof on soon. I haven't read all the prior posts - are you living in the built part while you finish up the rest, or still living in the tool shed?
We are living in a lawn mower barn !!!!!!!!!! LOL...not in the house.
The house is framed, but no roof trusses, siding etc.
It is tarped (BIG TARP)

Cornevelders are a cross between Cornish and Barnvelders. The dark Cornish has plumage a lot like the barny (females anyway) so the Cross is very pretty, plus the big breast of the Cornish. I like the Cornish look - the lack of comb and wattles gives them a raptor look to them. The males look similar to the females but are bigger, so the Barnevelder gives them a more "roo'ish" look to the boys.

Those sound like they will be very interesting chicks indeed. Can't wait to see pics.
Hopefully you can breed out the thick rubbery Cornish skin & get some crispier skin !!

I think it is just a "I feel different" than the rest of my class and/or friends situation and wishes he fit in better. He just turned 8. He doesn't know much history. We've taught him some, but we don't get into things that could cause nightmares - particularly because my oldest is an extreme worry wart. And, as soon as he is worried about something, we can't get him off the topic. We have to be careful with news, etc. because he takes things so literally and becomes worried that world news, or world history is right here, right now and ready to attack him.
My Daughter, at age 5 went to kindergarten & had a little Afracan-Am gal pal...and after that my daughter wanted to be black, why ?
Cuz she wanted all those pony tails all over with all the pretty barrets & bows.

So I had to do her hair in pony tails all over her head everyday.
That lasted for a few years & then it was over.

Exciting news about the Chehalis Show!!! On Sat November 17 there will be 2 poultry seminars free to the public. Dr Lyndon Badcoe will talk about the NPIP program in Washington State at 10:00 am, then at 11:00 am, Dr. Rocio Crespo will speak on "Management and Health in Poultry Flocks." These 2 experts often put on seminars for veterinarians interested in poultry medicine but these will be geared to the poultry breeder. In addition, the show will have a poultry raffle and poultry items for sale.
Show information can be found at the Washington Feather Fanciers website. There is still plenty of time to enter birds if you want or just come for the seminars and the camaraderie.

Wow! that is exciting!!! Dang it!! I just don't know how I'm gonna be able to make it, maybe for the day, but not over night!

Oh, pettec63, we also did part of the 4-H National Science Project with my Cub Scout Den. The boys LOVED it! We didn't get to do the whole project because of time constraints, but they got to build the robots, attempt to sweep up rice, and then we had robot races down the hall. I had very happy little Bear Cubs that evening.

So, just wondering...as a 4-H leader, how do you go about teaching where the birds (and bees) come from ?
Without bothering parents...I am guessing that most of these kids have no idea at that age how animals & birds breed/reproduce/birth/etc.
Hmmmmmmmm....have to teach animal husbandry, huh ?
And nutrition ?
Housing?
Health...the whole shebang !
