OH, I see, I didn't mean that any child under probably 14 depending on maturity, should watch those movies. I was just talking about cultures and how in the case of WW2 that it has that kind of an impact on ME personally. Sorry I should have separated that phrase, I know, english class was a LONG time ago!!! LOL!

No worries.

I'm just glad my kids are so friendly and open to every culture. That's the way I want them to be.

OH.... see... I didn't know that?? I wasn't thinking so much of the technical parts of the SOP, but kinda knowing what a good bird looks like and one that isn't, but, again, I have never done 4 H nor my children, so yea, kinda clueless here. I mean I guess I thought the first part of your statement was a given, that you would naturally teach that first, but, maybe it's cause I don't know if these kids have had birds before or not, and even what age I'd be helping???

Thank you to everyone whith your input on chicken doors - I looked at all that everyone recommended and then some. I just ordered the Pullet-shut with the solar option as I do not have electricity at the coop (aside from extension cords to heat dog-bowls of water in the winter).

I chose the pullet-shut because it does not need much room, it has a sturdy aluminum frame, and it is side-hinged swing-door

Yay! You're going to love it!

I'll probably be investing in a 2nd one in a few months, too, for the 2nd coop (as long as my 4 chickies turn out to be girls!). I need to start saving for it.

Some of them may not have any clue about anything.
I have run into a few lately that were just starting out & looking for their first birds.
Alot of folks on here have donated birds (or trios) to those kids just starting out, and their 4-H leaders work with them teaching them everything...from choosing a breed to their care, breeding, diseases, etc.
Seriously, some of the kids have never had any animal or bird before.

Well, I can't say I'm the most organized person on the face of the earth, but, if it's kind of basic stuff, I'm good. What ages do they start at?? I am partial to the 8,9,10s they seem to be more curious and helpful, I have no clue, in any case, I would do my best to teach what I know and have fun!!

The books usually go by grade level. My twins are 8, and my oldest is 10. For the most part, they are all in the first level book.
