That why I haven't posted the other pictures. I'm trying to think what event I took that camera to - I know I had it at the Veteran's Day Parade. Hmmmmm.

Yay, the second chick hatched last night. So I have a Blue/Buff Orpington(SR) and a Blue Opr/BR pullet(no barring)

I will try and get a quick photo later today. They are so stinking cute and small. And one already pooed on me. Momma was ok with me handling them too.

Roosters are illegal here - but we hatch our own eggs therefore we always end up with cockerels crowing about July. We make sure to keep them in the dark coop until at least 7 a.m. (or later on weekends) so they aren't crowing too early.

No one has ever complained - I always talk to our neighbors and let them know that they are not permanant, and they always either ask what rooster I'm talking about - or that they love the sound and just wish our back-door neighbor would get rid of their forever yapping dog.

Congrats! I cannot wait to see pics =)

If you have a good broody mama that allows you to handle the chicks; I encourage you to do so several times daily. This will make them more friendly in the long run!

ETA: I don't think they have a pea comb. It looks like those in your picture. Fudge was the dad... what would that make?

Yes, that's it. Out city has gone over the top. I'm sure 2 of our neighbors wouldn't mind, 1 has chickens, and the other family likes seeing them scratch around the yard and get the big brown eggs. I'm also considering keeping a roo in a big cage in the garage at night- And letting him out at 8:00 in the morning on weekdays.
