Just got home to find that one of the pips has popped and 2 more have piped. So I have 2 chicks and 3 pips. All BCM
Hahaha. That's funny about your DH starting to like chickens. My DW is already attached to the Silkies I got her. I asked her if she would ever join BYC, she said she will prolly live vicariously through me. But she does sit and read post with me almost every day now.
Quote: It is wonderful to hear how accommodating your utility crew was under the circumstances and also that you learned to use your generator. Our ole generator is so cranky it takes an expert to get it running right. LOL Well, at least someone who knows the tricks like my DH. It cracks me up too that your DH is enjoying egg brooding so much. It's so cool when the hubbies do catch chicken fever too. Makes it all that much more fun as you share experiences. I look forward to seeing your next batch of chicks. We can't wait to get our own BA chicks probably in Feb. or so. They grow up so fast as you know so well so am looking forward to lots of eggs this summer. The next couple of months will be long ones for me waiting, plus I don't like winter. Too cold, windy & wet and I don't like snow & ice. So glad we got the reptile light for Betsy Barr Rock. She is doing very well all alone in the coop with it. Wonder how she will like her new family this spring? Sure do like your 'isolation pen' so showed it to DH so he can make me something like it for when we introduce Betsy to the new kids down the road. But I guess I am getting ahead of myself.~Dee~![]()
This looks like a very helpful website. I am going to bookmark it. I spent hours and hours last week figuring out how to clean up my PC. A lot of what I hunted down seems to be all together at this site. Unfortunately my hard drive has been making odd sounds so I do kind of expect a crash. Well. At least I had a desk top that began with an odd sound that eventually led to a crash so feel I must be super diligent about backing up files which is always a good practice anyway. Who knows! Better be safe than sorry. ~Dee~For anyone with virus issues, I'd like to suggest following the procedures given at MajorGeeks.com. They have an exceptionally good team of volunteers that will work with you. But it is super important to follow their instructions. Here is a link to the Malware Removal section of their forum:

I've been using their site for a few years and I've been very impressed with their knowledge, skill, and advice.

My Wife does FB but she works on a computer all day(accountant) and does the treasury for our church, but she does know that BYC is mobile now. Who knows. Most of the time if I can't answer a question she tells me to ask my chicken people. I usually let her educate our friends that come over and ask about the chickens.

These are good. I use them. I use spybot ( http://www.safer-networking.org/ ) as well.
I have AVG ( http://www.avg.com ) for my antivirus. It's free if you don't have one.

They actually eat them? Ooo.. that's not good. Chasing the tweety birds is one of my big girl's favorite daily activities. And here I've been laughing at their antics - thinking it was funny. I didn't have a clue chickens actually ate tweety birds. I'll have to keep a closer watch on making sure they don't catch one.
Chickens are actually vicious killers.![]()
But seriously, they are very fond of the occasional meat treats. My mom ran in the house squealing about my gold sexlink running around the yard with a baby shrew during the summer. I found half of a mouse (the back half) in their pen when I let them out one time. Another time, when I was doing some pen maintenance, I saw a mouse bounce through. George was hot on its heels, but it got through the chicken wire with no time to spare. She was so disappointed. Small birds are no different to chickens. The Pine Siskin was probably going for their food and didn't anticipate their reaction. I hate the fact that they killed and ate the poor thing and would have stopped it from happening if I was able to. I hope that none of your birdies goes the way of that Siskin.
