Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Quote: Thanks. I appreciate the ideas. I think I may have my 3 DS's go out and pee around the chicken area. Lol, they will get a kick out of that!

It might work. I have DH go out on dark nights and pee on my cherry trees to help deter deer. The dogs pee along the fenceline up front and we haven't had a coyote cross it, but do see them out on the road and hear them along the RR tracks.

FM - again, I'm SO sorry for your losses the last couple days! That's simply horrifying that they got another one today.

We got the roosts lowered and took out the shelf! I still want an upper storage area in the coop, but I'm super excited I don't have to worry about them jumping down from 4.5' roosts anymore. Now they are just about 3', one on either side of the door of the coop, and running the whole length of the coop. I'll go out and get a pic in a minute. Be back soon!

1:00am Diane wakes me just to say that she can't breathe because the power is out and her breathing machine won't work. Too bad suck it up. I got week old chicks in the barn. So I go and hook the little generator to run the heat lamp for the babies. Then head over to the stables to get my jump pak and hook up her breathing machine. OK so now Diane was plugged back in and could breath. I set down in the recliner so I can go check on the chicks in a little while. Well 6:14 I woke up when the power came back on I went out to transfer power for the chicks. DANG IT the little generator failed sometime during the night. I knew I should have hooked up the big gen. Will have to wait and see if it had a negative result on the little ones. Ya can't put a price on good times!!!!

Oh no! Let us know how the littles are doing!

Mine are in the house... in the living room... where the Christmas tree is supposed to go!

Thankfully, one is LOUD and wakes me up whenever he wants me (yes, we think "he" is a boy). I feel like a new mom - last night was the first night I actually got to sleep all night long since the chicks hatched. Either our little pudgy boy was content all night long, or I was too exhausted to hear him.

Our guess... which of course could be WAY off... we think we have 5 girls and 3 boys. Time will tell. DH wants to put a band on the chicks we believe to be boys so we know if our guess is correct. The five who had different sized feather nubs at days 2 and 3 now have feathers on their tails. The remaining three don't have any feathers on their tails at all.

Hinotori's onto something with the shooting thing. What you need is a friend with a shotgun and the ability to get out of there quick if the authorities catch on...

If you guys are getting wind like we are here, I sincerely hope your damage is minimal! It's supposed to be peaking about now with gusts in excess of 60mph. Already I have 2 gates practically ruined from it (not the first time it's happened) and large tree branches all over. The birds are stuck in their pen so they don't blow away!!!!! I don't even want to evaluate how messed up our Christmas lights are. We spent so much time on them

. Sounds like we are surrounded by areas getting blizzard warnings. So far we are in a hole of that type of storm. I have absolutely NO desire to step foot outside anymore today. The fight with the hot tub cover that was blown off put me in a bad mood and it sounds like a freight train even in the house. Oh well, it could always be worse than it is so I'm gonna try to be thankful it's not!

Ouch. Sorry. I didn't even think about what it was doing to holiday decorations. First time in a couple weeks that I'm thankful life has been spinning too fast for us to decorate. Hopefully we'll catch up on the decor to the rest of the Merry folk, soon.

We woke up to snow on the ground this morning. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Thought I'd try this. This is from my cellphone. I'm not typing I'm talking, it's very strange. I don't know how it will look online.(I'm at the physical therapist)

Editing is not as hard as I thought.

Turned out awesome! I just got a new phone - and I LOVE the talk feature. I talk my texts all the time now.

Renee - congrats on having the CC-POW this week!!! I saw it earlier in my Facebook feed but couldn't comment because I was out of the house.

Thanks for calling last night and letting me know!

I'm on the computer for a tiny bit while the kids are at school. Our virus protection expired and I won't let the kids get on the computer, and if they see me get on, they call me on it. So... lately I've been avoiding the computer. I think our internet company has free virus protection - I just haven't had a chance to look it up. Soon. Hopefully....after my daughter's room is rearranged and ready for my disabled mom, who arrives Thursday, to spend a week with us. Cleaning out that kid's room...

. I can't even count how many tiny pieces of paper have been recycled and how many "pet rocks" are getting returned to the great outdoors.

That child collects the strangest things. You know those tiny plastic pellets from pellet guns? My kid collects those and brings them home from the school playground. I've been sucking hundreds of those things into the vacuum, and we don't even own a pellet gun.

I was super excited when I found a shower chair for my mom at Goodwill for only 16 bucks! The thing looks new! Things are slowly coming together.
