All animals have a pecking order.
From fish to four legged animals it doesn't matter.
From within the group of animals like dogs there is a pecking order then you have the pecking order from how the dog relates to what ever animal is on your property.

With dogs you need to take the chick or older chicken matters not if you just got a dog, or just got a chicken, in other words matters not who was there first the dog needs to know who is king.

Place the chicken on the dogs head, back, and repeat mine a few times.

I normally let the dog sniff the chicken also during this procedure.
You got to take away the curiosity of what they smell like.
Eliminate the sniff reaction.
Go back to placing the chicken on the head showing domination.

My dog kills wild birds, hunts them, sneaks up on them, over the years got quite a few.

As soon as I did this method with him he understood not only the bird was mine but that bird is at the top of the order.

That doesn't stop him going after the wild ones because domination hasn't been shown there.

I didn't need to do it with every chicken I got just enough so that he recognizes where he is in the order of animals here.

Not saying this is full proof I am saying if one studies how animals interact this is the number one top of the list action you need to do.

All the commands, dog training schools, etc in the world aren't worth nothing compared to natures pecking order.

Use nature to your advantage.

[snipped] I am offering the class to anyone that wants to join from this thread for free. This year I am going to offer the class to the public also, but for a modest fee.
Wow - that is awesome and generous! My fabulous amazing Spouse has butchered a couple of ours with my assistance too (I am getting better...) and we improve method each time but we might still want to come learn your method(s) too! We're just a sneeze south of Olympia. Please let us know when/where your class will be!

They sure are yummier than store chicken!

How much electrolytes should you give chicks? I just went and bought some. It says one packet for 1 gallon of water. Is that correct for chicks? I'm pretty sure my waterer is not one gallon and I don't want to give them to little/to much.

I would mix it in a gallon bucket and then pour the mixed water into the waterer. Or just do the 2 drops in beak 2x a day to that one chick. But it wont hurt them if you treat all of them. Just make sure you change the water daily as instructed. If you are using a quart waterer, you could use 1/4 of the package in that waterer.

I ended up calling my friend who's a judge. She said 1 teaspoon per quart. I put it in there and treated all of them.

Here's Hope:
