Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I've hogged the thread enough. I still have lots of catching up to read through.

I've gotta go, DD has a 3-4 hour dress rehearsal tonight. It's gonna be a long one. Once we get through this weekend the activities will calm down a bit - we'll just have 3 basketball practices, 3 games, Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts each week. Yep. That's a calm life in our book. This past month has been insane with all the extra after school activities.

Saturday will be the craziest - possibly taking Blackie to auction if I can face letting him go, 3 basketball games, Cub Scout Pinewood Derby and the final day of the local pageant (my daughter is a "Little Sister" to one of the contestants). I think by Saturday night, I'm gonna need some sleep.

Take care everyone! If I'm not back online until early next week - have a great weekend!

That is what I did with mine. 6"x1/2" bolt and 8" lawn mower wheels with the steel hub. My tractor weighs a few hundred pounds as it is all 2x4 and Plywood framed. 4'x4'x10'

This is exactly what I have on mine too~ lawnmower wheels and  6" bolts, through the frame.  I have 4 wheels on it so that I can just push it (in a straight line) if I need to rather than lifting it.  It's too heavy for me to lift it by myself more than to pivot it, to turn ;)

Can you guys post pictures of your tractors?  We're going to add wheels to the little house that connects to our wooden tractor so I can move it by myself.
You can see a couple of pics of mine in "My Coop" on my profile.

DEAR LORD, SOMETIMES I WISH I LIVED IN THE MIDDLE OF 100ACRES...BUT I'M SURE PEOPLE WOULD STILL FIND WAYS TO ANNOY ME! HOPE THINGS GET BETTER FOR YOU AND YOUR WACKO NEIGHBOR MOVES OUT AND IS REPLACED BY SOMEONE WITH SENSE!!!!

I've done the more-than-100-acres thing, and it just means whatever crazy neighbors are out there can come on the place, cut fences, and shoot your 200 pound Angus bull because they thought it was a dear.

One of my great uncles had a guy come on to his property and shoot one of his cows when I was a teenager back in the early 90s. The guy argued with the police even saying he was legal because he had a cow (elk) tag. He'd opened 5 gates (and left them open, other cattle got out) and was a good 2 miles down the dirt road going well into the property. One of the hands had closed the main gate and locked it for the day. The guy came to the house asking them to unlock the gate so he could leave. The cops hit him with all sorts of charges. Turned out the guy was from in town Portland and had never seen an elk in his life.

Then when I was about 8, my uncle went hunting for ducks on my grandmas property. The property was fenced posted with no trespass and hunting signs. My uncle took the pet mallard drake with him to try and trick the wild ones. That duck loved to go for walks with people he knew. Some teenagers came on the property and got up on my uncle and pointed their gun at the little duck standing next to him. He told them not to shoot his duck but they did anyway. Cops came out and there were huge fines. Trespassing, killing the domestic livestock, firing a weapon towards my uncle.

That was the duck that got kicked out of town. One of my other uncles was living in town at that time and the drake was his pet. It decided to fly over the fence around the yard and attack the neighbor GSDs. Ripped the hair off the back of their heads and did some good damage. After the third time when the neighbors caught the duck in the act, the cops came. They told my uncle he had to remove his duck from town (ducks were legal). So the duck went to Grandma's house. There he delighted in randomly chasing and attacking people. He ran my Mom into the front door and she broke the glass center.

Telling stories on trespassers could go on all day; we've had people cut our fences (doubled pasture-wire, barbwire topped, after another trespass at the same hidden boundary) and build themselves little shade-gardens in the woodlot at the back of one ten-acre field, only to call the cops when we turned the weanlings in that fall and they drank out of the backyard goldfish ponds. Of course, when I was nine and there were ten houses between us and the river (and all of those people we knew) we had a guy come in and set twenty acres of pine trees on fire because Dad woldn't sell it to him for a summer house.

99% of the people who have lived next to us over the years are the opposite of problems, but that 1% is enough to make life more complicated than it should be.

Hi all,

I live in Buckley and have five chickens. My ex gave me two chickens back in may 2012. The rhode island red has lost more than 60 percent of her feathers since Monday. Her back and belly are bare. If she molts this quick does she grow back the feathers quick? She must be cold as it's 40 degrees out....the other chicken my ex gave me started her molt in September and still loses just an occasional feather.

By the way, I had never been around chickens and boy did I fall in love with them. But my leader Betty the rhode island red is really ugly with almost all feathers gone. The other chickens kind of kept their distance today from her.,..

Spring is almost here...

My rhode island red just started losing a bunch of feathers in the last few days too! The back of her neck is completely bare. The top of her head is thin. She stopped laying a couple of weeks ago.
