Man, today I am just in a BLAH kinda mood. Not really sure why. I should be in a good mood, this week went so fast for me, today is Friday, got two of my tattoos redone yesteday, all kids, chickens, chicks and orher animals are fine, but I am just blah.

Starting this weekend, I am going to begin sorting through every thing in the house and our 100 storage boxes to get rid of most of it I just have way to much crud. Going to have a in ”barn” garage sale hopefully soon. It'll be nice to not have so much stuff to move or store.

As far as chickens, my three oldest pullets that should be laying any day now are taking there sweet time. Two of them have been becoming more red in the comb and face. I even caught one checking out a nest box the other day. The suspense is killing me, I want to know what color eggs they will lay.

So yesterday, out of the blue, DW says, "When is the 2013 coop-a-thon?"

So -- who needs stuff built?

I wish I could make up my mind.

I *think* I have decided to wait a year (until summer 2014) and build the coop and run that I really want, when our swing set is gone, rather than squeezing in a coop that isn't exactly what I want somewhere else in the yard. I know I won't be happy, and I'll just want something bigger later. Ugh. I don't know really what to do. I'm tired of cleaning the patio constantly.

My kids never use their swing set, but no one, including my dh, will let me get rid of it. And then my son tells me that he's never going in the back yard again because of the chicken poop. Well then why does he want the swing set? LOL. The new chicken coop/run will be where the swing set is now, so the whole rest of the yard and patio should be much much cleaner, so he'll be able to go in the back yard again. win-win.

I have a Flock Block in my coop. We have not yet started the show stuff yet. We are planning on going to the PNPA show at Clark County Fairgrounds and asking questions there. DW is looking forward to going.

We here on the beach get a thick fog that is just as wet as a rain shower...and it floats up & swirls around so everything is wet on top & underneath.

ROOF is all but 5 sq ft DONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!
The dormer is making life unpleasant for the contractor.
Thankfully he is a easy going nice guy & not pitching a fit.all those little cuts of metal.

I use Broiler Max at half dosage for my layers, and full dose for my broilers.

I really love the screwdriver. I've always had a cordless drill and put screwdriver bits in it, I've never had an impact driver like this. This works so much better and requires less effort.
It comes with two batteries and they are interchangable, which is great when working on big projects.

I'm afraid to use any saw except a jig saw, which is really slow going for most things. Steve has a circular saw and table saw and he doesn't want me to use them

Argh.... that just hurts! And now I'm going to get on my soap box.... sorry.
We ALL can use a skill saw safely and competently (unless there is some debilitating issue)! My DH would love to wrap me in cotton and tell me I can't lift, pull, dig, hammer, saw, drill, or walk across the room all by my little helpless self! And it makes my blood boil! As long as you pay attention and use a lot of good sense when it comes to using the tools safely you can use them as well or better than anyone else! If you want to feel helpless for the rest of your life then fine. If you want to feel capable and self reliant then get out there and learn to do everything you can. Go to a class or just find a person with a really good track record of using power tools safely and get them to show you the ropes. If you can safely use a hot stove and sharp knives with kids all around then obviously you know there are hazards to be mindful of. Same thing with power tools. You just need to know what hazards to be mindful of, it's not rocket science.... want proof.... how bright are all those guys building houses and such. They don't get hired because they have a high IQ, they get hired because they know how to use the tools. It's doesn't take muscles either, it takes attention to detail and a little training. Fathers teach their sons, so they can teach their sisters, wives, and daughters, too. They have (or used to have) wood shop classes in Jr. High. Tell me you are LESS capable than a 12 year old! That is unless they are lousy teachers which some people are, sex isn't a factor there. Just Do It, you'll be glad you did!

I apologize to anyone that may take offense by this, but I've had to deal with the "Weaker Sex" issue WAY too many times in my life. Thank goodness it's not a belief that is held by ALL, but definitely by too many, men and women alike. I am not a male basher. I want EVERYONE to break down the gender boundaries that keep us all so limited in so many useless ways.

Slinglings. I know he cares for your saftey but you should ask him to teach you.
Without use of a good saw you are limiting your building.

It's all about someone teaching you, or even these days you could go onto youtube and learn how to use one.
I use to do work years ago for a woman contractor.
Her dad taught her one of the best workers I've ever met.

Woman shouldn't limit themselves imo.

If he is still balking get a chop saw.
You can do so many great things with that type of saw and they are very safe and easy to work with for a long time unlike a skill saw where if you cutting a lot it gets to you unless you have top of the line one that doesn't weigh a lot and if you not in the business or use it every day a waste of $$$.
I've had a chop saw now going on four years and it sure beats using a skill saw when I don't have to use one.
Got that Ryobi chop saw from HD for $99.00 and it has been used a whole lot.

I like our chop saw but can't cut a piece of plywood with it.

I am a strong capable woman LOL. But I have hurt myself moving rocks and shoveling dirt that I shouldn't have, I haven't been able to use my left arm for much since November. There isn't anything wrong with me using my husband's muscles to my advantage It's dumb for him to go to the gym and lift weights but then not use his muscles for actual productive activities, like helping his wife. He's not here just to look pretty.
