Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Now for the ones we think are probably boys... do I take them all to auction in the morning, or are there any that could still possibly be girls?

#1 ... OE

#2 ... BCM

#3 ... BCM

#4 ... BCM

#5 ... OE - the one with the funny looking comb that was pictured earlier...

Magill Ranch Cascade Layer Poultry Feed, Organic - Corn & Soy Free (50 lbs). $33.45

thank you! That's only about 5 cents a lb less than what I am paying at my local feed store. i was hoping for a windfall (sniffle). Anyone else have ideas? Keep 'em coming!

by the way, since you all are hanging on the edge of your seats waiting for the results of my in-COOL-bator, I thought I would show you this beauty:

The ice chest was free- left here by the previous owner.

top temp is the air in the cooler, medium reading is the temp on the sensor (which is wrapped in a gel-pack), bottom is humidity- unsure how low it has to be before it simply reads "low" but I am going to add a few more droppers of water on the sponge in the cooler to see if it comes up a little.

I'm very proud of DH's ingenuity!

Ok... let's try this. Sorry I'm getting to this so late. The kid had allergy shots, then a B-Ball game. Here are the birds we think (hope) are girls... #1 ... OE #2 ... OE And, what we are afraid is our only shot at keeping a BCM... #3... BCM We're concerned about the speckling of copper on the tip of the wings. You can see it in picture where she is in a green bucket. She flew back into the bucket that we carry them in twice while trying to photograph her (when we carry multiples at a time). Silly bird.
#3 is questionable. Keep it for a few more weeks to see if hackle and saddle feathers develop. 1 & 2 are pullets, which makes the earlier OE look like a cockerel.
X2. #3 is questionable. The other set of pics all look like boys to me

For the longest time we thought for absolutely certain she was a girl - then those copper speckles on the tips of the wings started coming in, and her neck started turning copper like the others. We were really hoping for at least one BCM pullet.
IMHO I think ya have em sorted pretty well. BTW Nice purple Carhartt coat ! lol

I admit, I was a little scared to log on because I knew I would be so far behind!

I guess I'll probably just hatch some from my own hens the first time. I'm anxious to get eggs in there, to make sure it works well.

I have been looking to find a local person (i.e. not more that 30 minutes away from me) that has some of the breeds I was hoping for with fertile eggs. So far, no luck. ( except for the guy who has marans for $2 per fertile egg.) I have not been able to find any lavender or other "different" orpingtons, barnevelders, wellsummers, speckled sussex, or auracauna/americauna- but if someone has some, I'm happy to trade with what I have (silver-laced, buff Orp, americauna, easer egger, white rock, barred rock). Anyone?

I am fortunate that I have a EE rooster that is not aggressive or crazy- he;s a little rough on the girls- i've got 2 with bare patches on their backs- but he doesn't attack me or anything, so I've got fertile eggs here.
