I see a hexagon/ honeycomb~ am I wrong? Does it need to be more symetrical, perfect than this?
Hi ChickAudieTacomaFarms, you aren't responsible for my ignorance and high-flying temper. You need to stay on the BYC thread!! My apologies for offending everybody. My words were uncalled for.
On a side note...
I have decided to start another Washington thread titled "Washingtonian Cast-Offs" for the imperfectionists. All are welcome to hang out with my attitude having butt. I understand I can be more than some people want to handle.
Itsren, if you are still comfortable with your chicks going to my home, I am still happy to take them.
It's nice to see you back~ and I don't think anyone should feel like an outcast here. We're all a little different and most of us are very nice. I haven't noticed you having an attitude (other than the Nazi comment LOL). It was nice to meet you at Ikea.

So, if someone were to say I was fat, it wouldn't be rude or bullying, it would be the truth because I am overweight. It is descriptive of my appearance. So I really can't take offense at the truth. If I wasn't fat, I wouldn't take offense either, because the person making the statement is either mistaken, or deliberately trying to be mean. If he is mistaken, it's then forgiven, and if he's just being mean, he's ignored as not worth my time.
In the case if FWJ, I was describing her behaviour. She was "hovering" around her chicken and babies; like a "helicopter". There was no bullying in my comment.
What we need to teach out children, as well as kindness and respect to others, is how to deflect nasty comments from others, and not react to them. It is when our children react, that the bullying gets worse.
The world can be a cruel place, and our children will survive best if they know how to "ignore" nasty comments. We need to teach them how to have waterproof backs - as my dad used to say, "Be like a duck"!
And you are right, it's not easy to see "intent " in written words, but since you can't, wouldn't it be better to assume good intent, rather than bad?

Welcome welcome!Dang, that was a lot of reading to get caught up! There's no way I'm going to go back and try to quote every interesting post.![]()
Welcome to all the newcomers, we're happy to have you here.![]()
SarahKatie... great looking coop. It's actually pretty similar to mine (but prettier)... before we expanded last week! Now mine is 6' long and a little shy of 3' front to back, so about 18 sq. ft. But 6 LF will be my max using 3 sq ft. per bird. Are yours bantams?
FWJ... You're having way too much fun with your fluffy new baby toys!Don't listen to Kate, she's just jaded after being at this for SOOOO long!![]()
Kate.... I made bread from the Italian starter yesterday. I made 2 batches exactly the same except for the starters. We had 7 people do a blind taste test before dinner. No one could make out a discernible difference. They were BOTH totally delicious!

Thankyou for posting that. I'm going to do it again in the light (our house is dark at night). I have some jars of honey we have bought as well to try. The stuff from Gramps is rather old (almost 20 years), but I use it for tea. I'm amazed some of it is still liquid in the jars. He skimmed off most the stuff but there is still some wax and other stuff in it. It's mostly from alfalfa, since that is grown so much there. This is the stuff is grew up eating. We never got honey from the store.wow, I am egg-cited to know this honey "test" trick! I just checked the honey in my cabinet. Here's the picture:As for insulation. The bees have normally removed it well away from the comb. Any that may be still on the comb is just cut off. If you ever want to know if you have pure honey. put about a teaspoon of it in the bottom of a bowl. Carefully add cold water to cover it. Now just gently swirl the bowl. Pure honey will take the shape of honey comb, fake or diluted will not. Corn syrup is often used to cut honey.![]()
