Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Well, as much as I would love to get my DH away from fried chicken and my oldest from Costco's garlic bread, I don't think I would last long before they found a replacement

Our goal (we get to look at properties this year!) is to find 20 acres out in BFE and only eat what we can grow (thankfully DH's FIL is an avid potato farmer

) this year we will plant an orchard and grapes (Gewurztraminer) so they can grow while we continue to work and save to start building a house.

I bought some almond flour with the intentions of baking something yummy, and then DH added a little too many toppings to his take and bake pizza, and well, the element exploded from the weight of the cheese

WHAT? No fried chicken? Hey, that is one of the mainstays of life, you know; fried chicken, pizza, burritos, french fries and beer.

Hi everyone - I have a question. We have some old bread that I would like to give to the 4 w/o chicks. Would they be ok? I supply them with chick grit at all times, but I don't know if they actually eat it. I have given them crushed mealworms and they were fine. However, I remember reading about TPT's Silkie chick so I'm a little wary.
I would wait. Just me, no facts to back it up with.

Naming chickens, ha. I swore I would not do such a thing. After all, they're just chickens, live stock I said.
That didn't last too long.
1st was skinny
2nd was goldie
3rd was phycho (resting in freezer camp)
4th was the Blue Roo (BJG)
5th was Fattie (the black EO)
6th was Arbuckle (the blue EO)
7th was Rascal the Roo ( a black EO)

Nope, don't know how it happen, it just did.

. I hope your head gets better. Falling down stairs sucks.
What would consist of a really good manmade dust bath for my girls? I know I have ash in the wood burner right now, and DE. What about a base? Just play sand? How about dirt from my yard once I find some dry? Just want to get one going again now that it's not raining sideways so much into the run. Anyone got some good ratios? I'll be putting it all into a black concrete mixing pan...a HUGE one that easily fits 3-4 dust bathing birds at a time.
I have about 2" of dirt and DE. I use the DE to help dry the dirt. Mix it in and stir until the mix looks dry. My girls love it. I am going to add wood ash once I get some from my parents, they are stocking it for me.

I would wait until the bread is hard, or soak it in water. If you just give them bread it does expand a little in the crop, so wet or stale hard bread is best. If you have grit for them, they will eat it when they need it.

Very cool,

I see broken ceiling fans and blades often in second hand stores.

Imp- Sorry you are sick.

Mine keep telling me that's where they need to spend most of the day. They are 18 weeks and getting better at the rodent catching. They are good inside and stay out of the way normally.

It's the german shepherd dog that is the issue. I call her my stalker. I'll be cooking and turn to try a and get something and trip over her because she decided to lay down right behind me. Go grab a cup out of the cupboard and turn around and fall because she laid down behind me or dang near has her head up my butt.

The two dogs have been running and playing outside and she doesn't pay attention and has slammed into me at a full run because she was looking behind her. Pulled my knee on that one. She's bounced into me to many times to count in their games.

I hope you feel better soon KMHunter. Rest and get well.

Here are the DW's kids after their first bath/blow dry

Parmesano(White pullet)

Kung Pow(Black pullet)

Marsala(Porcelain pullet)

General Tso(Blue cockerel)

They were all such a mess before the baths, they really love their FF and wear it proudly. I did trim the feathers around their eyes to help them see more, since we are not planning on showing at this point, yet.
