Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

DH and I went to visit CowGirlGrace. I went for 6 eggs, came home with 10. He was no darn help at all in restraining me. If I hadn't stopped myself I could have come home with as many as I wanted. Thank goodness for my amazing self control.

I took them down to the VF Silkie Coop and gave them to Priscilla and Lucille. Lucille, our lavender Silkie, apparently is a magician because no sooner had I offered her 5 eggs but they had disappeared, although I suspect she hid them under her flattened, fluffy body.

Priscilla looked at them quizzically for a few minutes. One, then two eggs went underneath her while three others sat exposed. By the time I left though she fluffed up and over the remaining three. Just then Pearlie June came bopping into the coop and began to complain loudly that the other two girls had eggs and she did not. She just got done being broody a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know she was going to be ticked off about it. I swear I wasn't playing favorites. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

I have some cute video I took with the iPhone but I don't really know how to load it here. I'll have to look at that.
In the meantime - here's what we started with. 4 wheaten Ameraucana eggs, 2 BLRW, and 4 cochins. I've never wanted any little cochins before but Cowgirlgrace's were just adorable.

I'm going to re-home these when they're big enough. I mean it.
Oh and thanks to all of you who've been posting all your cute chicks pics lately. You all are a bad influence.

HA!!!!!!!!!! I told you that 2 is no better than 1!! That's FUNNY it's got me laughing!! I feel your pain. I didn't want Cochins either but your right that Roo she has is AWESOME it stopped me in my tracks, then I here DAD did you see that pretty Rooster UGH!!! You have self control like me and everybody else!! NOT

All her birds are nice but I've been looking for nice BLRW's since I picked up a couple from her last summer there aren't many better than hers and I've looked quite a bit.

Nice to see ya back.. I have heard from a couple weeks to about a month. Also keep in mind I have heard that MEAN Roo's come from MEAN HEN'S. Not from the mean rooster!
Hi CR!

I missed you all!

these guys are smallish RIR; maybe soon to be RIP! I'm wondering if something about the red coloring makes them mean. My only mean bantam cochin is the red one.

I'm so sorry...

I'm wondering if someone connected with Lab Rescue might be able to find a dog that would be a good match for you. I'm actually having coffee tomorrow morning with a gentleman who is on the board for Humane Spay and Neuter of Tacoma, is a volunteer and television spokesman for Pierce County Humane Society and works with Lab Rescue. I'll bet he has a lot of connections. Would you like me to inquire for you?
yeah the thing is i'm looking for a puppy. I've been checking out the shelters but i don't agree with their early spay/neuter. every dog i've had that was neutered at an early age developed bone issues. Large breed dogs shouldn't be neutered til a year old. A large breed is what I need.
sorry if i sound picky. It's just it kills me to get a puppy that would develop health issues and not be able to be a service dog. And I dont like getting adult dogs because the 2 shelter dogs i got as adults both bit me multiple times until I took them back. Left me honestly terrified of getting an adult dog from the shelter.

I'm sorry for your loss!! Hang in there you'll never forget but it will get easier. Remind us again what breed your looking for may be one of us can help.

i'm looking for a large breed puppy. No specific breed. The biggest issue is after demons vet bills I'm left broke, so I have to save up to get the puppy.

Finally saw Breaking Dawn part II from the comfort of my own living room, for WAY cheaper than a movie theater, on our HD big flat screen. I'm SO glad we waited. Movie theaters give me major anxiety when it's crowded and too loud, and we needed to watch SOMETHING good on the new (from Black Friday) TV!

Yup, it was an AWESOME movie. I simply love the whole Twilight series. There's my movie plug for anyone looking for a good series to start!

Had to get 1 more.....

Today I went and got a Gold Star from Pam at Raincreek! She's only 2 days older than the 3 AMs I got from CGG yesterday. When we got her home I put her in with the other 3 and nobody even batted an eye. yippee for that.

She must have gotten very tired from the trip, although it was only about a half hour. She's sleeping a LOT. I've seen her eat, drink and poop, but she mostly sleeps. I hope by morning she'll be more peppy like the others. Do y'all think there is any reason for concern? btw she was vaccinated for mereks and she is 7 days old.
Pretty soon you are going to be tearing out the run and letting them have the whole yard. Chicken Math Girl Friend.

Hubby has told me he really doesn't want to take my chickens to CA for the month I am gone. I finally agreed to let them stay, watched. He then broke down and said maybe I could get chicks in CA because there is no problem bringing them out of CA. (I really gave him a guilt trip about you getting chicks, Even Carolyn has new chicks) So I may be bringing some new babies home. I was thinking of getting some Silkies. Does anyone know of a good breeder down in the Bay Area/Sacramento area? I saw one in Lincoln, Country Ranch? Any input on what to look for and any advice on the silkies. Pro's, Cons? I will get some regular size chickens also but those silkies just look so cute...

I had to laugh, today we went to see Hubbies Mom in the nursing home in Bonny Lake. I was telling her how last night I was sitting in my easy chair watching TV with a cat wrapped around my neck on the back on the chair and a RIR hen in my lap. All 3 of us eating cheese-its. I am definitely not a city girl.

i put demon at my moms under the tree he had to mark every time we were there as his tree. I live in the city and i rent so i couldn't bury him here.

I have a very special cherry tree in California that has been the last resting place for all my loved pets that where small enough. I have one here also in WA I am sad to say. I give you a comforting hug.

If there really is that rainbow bridge that all our loved pets go to wait for us to join them....There will be a stampede waiting for me.
