Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I am SOOOO excited! DH (well...technically fiance) have been together for 10 years and have FINALLY picked a date to say our "I do's"!! June 15th is going to be our big day! I have to admit, I wasn't very excited to have a wedding, but now I am looking at everything, I am going to LOVE putting this together

.....now, how to incorporate chickens into a wedding?? ring-bearers? LOL!

Our colors are going to be black, white and silver and have a bit of a Moroccan touch (with Thai food, ohhahaha!)
Congratulations!

My two incubators are up and running! Now just to wait for the eggs to come in the mail tomorrow and Wednesday. I'm getting Standard Cochins, Mille Fleur Bantam Cochins, Bantam Chocolate Orpington, standard Blue Frizzle Cochins, standard Sumatras, BBS Orpingtons and Standard Golden Laced Cochin eggs! I'm so excited! I know I'll have extras once these hatch if anyone is interested, let me know! :)

I thought I would step in here and say ALL of you are a bad influence.

I usually just quietly lurk and try to keep up on the happenings in the chicken world but lately whats up with all these chick pictures? I am truly suffering here. I now want chicks SO BAD. Rainwolf and her mom actually started this by giving me a dozen hatching eggs when all I wanted was one of her cockerels... Those chicks were so cute! I need more chickens like I need another hole in my head. DH thinks I'm totally chicken crazy (ok..maybe that is true). I told him yesterday I *REALLY* want to start breeding LF silver Ameraucanas (thanks to Hinotori showing me her pullet

) and I was showing him all the pictures of them and sharing the new chick pictures everyone has and he just looked at me and said "I don't know, I thought when I agreed to getting chickens you said only 10. Now what are we at? 20 birds? 3 of them being full grown TURKEYS!?"

I feel like a bad addict. Now I'm brainstorming how to smuggle more birds in and pull off breeding AMs. I ran across someones sig. the other day can't remember whos but it said "Chickens smickens... they are just the gateway bird" DH didn't think that was funny but I think I will just stick with turkeys and chickens, but elaborate on the chickens.

Alright, I'm going back to lurking and admiring everyones chick pictures and wishing I had some to share.
WOW, that exact same phrase has come out of my own DH mouth!!!!
Question: How much do you separate your turkeys from the chickens? Most articles say to keep them apart due to turkeys getting blackhead, but I've seen several say they have never had problems with it and keep them in the same area.

This cracked me up.

Portlandia is on Netflix...think I need to check it out!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! You sure have had some creative suggestions on here about doing a chicken relatated ceremony, hahahaha!!!

Question: WHO was it that made stitch markers again? I would really like to "order" a set; my plastic ones are boring and I'm knitting more and more lately, so I need something pretty to use.

Travis - I clipped BOTH wings on all 11 big girls but let Lucy keep her wings to cover the babies. I hope they all are safe on their side of the fence and don't do something stupid like try to fly over the creek. Willow just did that a couple weeks ago; she hates the bridge and instead flies over the creek to meet everyone else. With no wing feathers I hope she doesn't drown!

Thanks I'm just following a pattern but can use the remaining blue trim for whatever hem I like. I haven't decided yet, but I've got a LOT of knitting to do before I get there so plenty of time to think! Do you knit!

sadly, I do not knit. I was the only left-handed person in my family, so never happened- but there's still time to learn, yes?

BTW- being left handed, I am in my right mind!

I used to weave baskets though and would like to take that up again sometime- it's been 2 decades since I made my first 4 baskets- all of which I still have. In fact, I use my egg basket to gather my eggs.
