Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

I am so sick of this rain...everyday the talking heads say 3 days of no rain which keeps getting moved to the next day like some sort of never getting here carrot held in front of the donkey...I am SO ready to plant some stuff in the hot frame & the garden...if it ever stops raining.

Until then I am bouncing off the walls & getting madder & madder.......................

Cannot do anything in the house until Einstein finishes a few more walls............................poop.

Should just go back to bed...............................

Seriously!!! Everyday it's "Sunshine tomorrow! Oh, just kidding. " I have a chicken run to build and a garden to turn. And a 5 yr old that is driving me bonkers!! Although, I see sunshine right now, so maybe I should let him run for a few. I am a native, so it's not like this is new for me, but it would still be nice to have some variety. I guess I should just be thankful that I am not in the midwest right now.

Well we're crazy. I get anxious in places with lots of lights and noise and crowded and we're going to attempt taking the kids to Chuck E Cheese this afternoon. I think it will be OK to stay a while, not eat the food junk there, and only play games for an hour or so. It's Thursday afternoon so I imagine it won't be packed. Pray for me. LOL

I only had a mix, but that was B.C. (before chickens). They are independant, which is desired for the job, and usually aloof with strangers. The ones I met in the vet clinic were a bit suspicious but certainly not aggressive, given the surroundings. I personally LOVE them and plan to get one myself some day. The two boogers I have now (a Cocker and a ShepX) were here also B.C. and I have neglected to work with them to desensitize them with the chickens and cannot be trusted with them off-leash. From what I've read, it's key to keep them around the livestock they are to guard most of the time (after many supervised visits as a puppy). Pyrs seem to have a great reputation as LGDs for the most part but remember they are all individuals and not all will succeed. The best thing is to buy one from someone who already has them around livestock, especially chickens. Anatolians are also of good reputation, but need a lot of socialization (which goes for most dogs anyway). Google something like comparisons of livestock guardian dog breeds and you should be able to find a side-by-side noting their different characteristics.
E.t.a, as mentioned above, they do tend to roam and are known barkers especially at night!!
Again, very sad for your losses

You sound very much like my DH about cleaning up yuck!!!! Sometimes I think it is just to avoid doing it but then his gag reflex kicks in and it's pretty obvious he is not faking!!!

You have not met my crazy woo-woo-wooing Cocker!!!!! Every morning WOO-WOO-WOO....everytime I come in from outside, even if I was only gone for 5min: WOO-WOO-WOO!!! It sometimes happens just when you start talking to her...stub starts wagging frantically, huffing and puffing starts, then WOO-WOO-WOO!!!

To those who have had recent losses / tragedies Sorry to hear and hope all gets better soon.

FYI I have been stealing time on a friends plasma cutter. I have 42 no mess chickens cut out. Not sure how many Will be done for Monroe but I should have several since I still have 18 from the last hatch !

Speaking of plasma. The latest on mine is that they are pretty sure they know what is wrong so now just a matter of repair time. Jeanine said she hopes to deliver it when she comes to visit Saturday but not sure yet.

What does it mean by "Targeted" and "Non-Targeted" ?
"Targeted" are areas of low density, where there is "distressed" income, i.e. places where they want more folks to move to. For instance, there's places in Duvall that are "targeted" because it's off the beaten track, and not much industry. ALL of places like Eatonville & Machias are targeted, but none of Bellevue is. You have to look at the map, but better yet- get over to the seminar- I went once, it was outstanding and inspirational- got my wheels churning for my son's future- I am hoping to use this program to help him buy a house one day.

OK so I guess I must have missed something here. Mikey IF ya need it I have a 10" compound miter saw and a 10" table saw with double extensions. Just let me know mike.
We borrowed my Dad's Craftsman table saw.....he got it for his retirement gift (from his boss) and he never has used it...............it has sat in a work shop for 12 years...................and it will not work !
I assume it has a bad starter ????????????
Whatever....Dad will now think we broke it..........................so I guess we better fix it................

me threeeeeeeee- this is crazy making. Why do we pay these weather forecasters?
I've got to get outside and clean stuff up for the party this Saturday- don't want all the folks coming to see my mess. Besides that, all the critters are bringing muddy paws in the house. argh!

my wood shop is nearly complete. table saw (Sarahkatie got the other one today), chop saw, lathe, band saw, routers, router table, etc, etc. Need a planer. Plus the hand tools, chisels, planes, scrapers, sharpening tools and all the other stuff a guy likes to have on hand, nust in case.

RCMS is a very nice tool.
