Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Chickielady- unsure if you know, but if you are buying lots of GF products, such as Pamela's bread mix, you can get it WAY cheaper buying on Amazon. I just looked and the Pamela's bread mix is even on their "subscribe and save" program. I subscribe to many supplements and GF foods - and when they are ready to ship out the next batch they send you an e-mail in advance, in case you need to skip an order.

For instance: I was at Whole Foods last week and Bob's Red Mill certified GF oatmeal was $6.50 for the 2 lb bag.
Amazon has it for 1/2 that price- $15.12 for 4 of the 2 lb pkgs. ($3.80 per bag)

their Pamela's GF baking mix comes in various sizes- bulk, 19 oz size, etc- check it out!

I love, love, love paying $79.99 annually to have everything shipped to my door in 48 hours with NO shipping cost!!
The Amazon Prime movies and free Kindle downloads are just icing on the cake. (I downloaded a free kindle reader on my phone so can read anything offered on Kindle on my iphone...)

I think everyone who lives away from the big cities should have Amazon Prime !!
Good to know, but I do not buy much at all...usually a big bag (4# ?) lasts me for months.

Does anyone want hatching eggs and have room in their incubator for a few more? I'm impatiently waiting for one of my hens to go broody so I can hatch chicks myself but something went wrong with the dozen eggs someone took from me and I'm curious to know if it was just the time of year (some of the first eggs of the year) or is it something else wrong on my end. Your welcome to do what ever you wish with the resultung chicks, they are mutt chickens and should lay shades of green when older. All I want to know is if they hatch.
All the chicks in the previous batch quit developing after day 15 or so. I am very new to hatching eggs and I was so excited to finally see chicks from my flock, the report about all dead chicks was very disappointing.
The chicks all died, or the eggs did not hatch ?
Chicks all dying more than likely is no fault of yours...some people just do not know how to care for chicks, and I would highly suspect that was the case since ALL of them died.

Got this, Kim! I'm assuming you'd like the 1oz eco-tube - let me know if you'd prefer the 4oz stainless tub or a loose bar

Thank you, Honeysuckle Hills!

You're sweet!

Anyone else for lotion bars or liquid soap - let me know what scent you'd like.
Lavender, peppermint, oatmeal milk & honey, turkish mocha, cranberry & fig, pineapple & cilantro, pomegranate & black currant, bonsai, white magnolia, tropical wedding, etc. (those are the ones I can recall off the top of my head!) see my etsy shop for more!

I'm always on the look out for goat milk soap especially if it's a nice lilac scent. Usually the lilac scents I find are rather harsh. I found one in St. Louis that was right on the money, but that's a really long trip for a bar of soap!

oops... I think I'm addressing the wrong person. Is it Zgoatlady that does goat milk soap, or is it you?

I went to JoAnn's today to pick up some buttons for the back of Jeanine's new knit dress. Found some really great ones and snagged a few more things to buy. Came home...opened bag...NO dress buttons. Apparently I dropped them and didn't even check out with them! Grrr. I swear when those kids popped outta me, each one took some of my brain with them. I don't know I'll ever get those pieces back

More is lost every year, especially the tween & teen years.

OK someone talk me through this again. I Eprinex'd all the girls today because I found mites near Lucy's vent (broody mama with 4 chicks ages 4.5-6wks). I was naughty and also put a single droplet of it on each chick
hide.gif
DUDE...who has time for a friggin chicken bath on 4 uncooperative chicks?! So...they weren't showing signs of mites but I figured if they LIVE under Lucy, they're bound to get them soon or already have hidden ones.

SO, I know I need to re-do the Eprinex; EXACTLY WHEN SHOULD THAT BE? I've heard 7-10 days. But which is best to thoroughly get rid of mites?

ALSO, when to do the coop cleanout? Now? Or the exact day they get Eprinex'd for the second time? Trying to figure out timing on that because I can't physically handle doing it twice in a week. Thanks so much for listening and helping!
7 days, and get some Sevin, make a spray bottle of it (or buy it ready mixed) or Permethrin (a bit safer) and spray the area she has been in, and nest boxes, and if you get Permethrin you can spray chicken butts at night while they roost.
careful on the babies though.

I'm going to take tomorrow off from work so that I can get ready to go to the Monroe show - and the only thing I'm bringing with me is DW :)

HA!

Oh .. and some boxes yanno .. just in case someone (not me honestly?) buys birds and needs to take them home (not to my house?)

For those of you who will not recognize me on sight - GOOD -- you will be easier to avoid :)

Better bring the jalapenos !

I am planning on cutting my work day short today or tomorrow and getting out in the garden with my shovel.

I'm wondering if anyone wants some evening primrose and/or a perinneal sunflower.

If you are not familiar, the evening primrose I have is quite possibly the happiest yellow flower I've ever seen. It can get invasive, hence the abundance to share!

My perinneal sunflower is huge, at least 6 feet. If you've been to my house at the right time--it's that magnificent plant that's covered in bright yellow daisy like flowers next to the garage. I have at least one, maybe two.

I may have raspberries and strawberries; need to get out there first and see what's out of control

.

I could bring them to Monroe; I'll probably get there around 11 a.m.
A few weeks ago Imp was on here posting about Honeysuckle & how he just sticks them in water w/rooting media and they sprout, remeber ?
Well I pruned mine, and stuck them in water, and presto !
Today I noticed quite a few roots !
ep.gif

It is a red branced, kinda purple even, turquisey-green/blue leaves, red underneath and has tons of coral orange & yellow blooms...I cannot remeber the name.
If there is alot with roots, I'll bring some.
