Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

It looks like everybody had a fabulous time today!! We were in Mill Creek today to pick up an engine for our daughter's car and I was going to have DH swing into Monroe on our way back, but it took longer than I expected to get the engine pulled and into the truck and we had to get home to the critters. I just wanted to say hi. And maybe look at chicks.

I just want to say thanks again to all of you who helped talk me out of the cheap hens I found yesterday. All 11 of the chicks that I brought home yesterday are doing great! They settled right in and are cheeping away in their little brooder. The little crested bantam that I got is the friendliest out of the bunch. She is very curious, just sits there and lets me pick her up. Not sure what she is going to be for sure, but my best guess from snooping around the net, is Golden Laced Polish. That was the closest thing I could find with chicks that color. My only concern is that I read that crested birds don't do well in a flock without another crested. Maybe I should grab another one? Any insight would be great.

Just watched Breaking Dawn Part Two with DD, now I better get to bed so that I get up in time for church.

Had fun at the show today. Is it odd that it was a date thing with my loving fiance? Lol and he got off lucky

What kind of cockatoo is that on your shoulder? I had a rose breasted one that looked a lot like that only gray and pink. I also have a scar on my lip where I had him on my shoulder like you have there and turned to kiss him and he bit through both my lips. Not lip smacking good.

I am glad you get no flack from the other half. I have had a heck of a time convincing hubby these chicks won't take over our lives.

that little bugger there on my shoulder is scooter, she is a goffin cockatoo. My fiance is just as bad as me lol. He dwcided to pick up the serama chick "for me" and so my roo had plenty of ladies to spread his love to :D . He is more in to the turkeys though. not very many men can get away with givin a gal an incubator for valentines :D or guinea keets for my birthday. The animals that bug him are CATS! But i got 2 and they leave him alone which is fine with him. Oh btw scooter has nwver bitten but im careful around her during breeding season, my stepdads girlfriend was loving on one of her small conures and he bit through her bottom lip! It was terrifying to see! Do you still have your bird?

No, Rosebud passed on. I wish my hubby would give me an incubator for my birthday.

OMG Today was so much fun at the WFF show!

It was so great to so so many of you guys again and to meet so many others. I wish I could have stayed longer but DH and the older boys were getting wrestles and we had plans for the kids to do a whole bunch of fun stuff!
I completely forgot to go look at the scarfs, GGRRRRR, I wanted on so darn badly. Also the food there..... WOW is all I can say about that. The food was great! It's funny because apparently my body is not used to all this healthy food and I hate to say it, but I was worried about how everything would taste with all the "crud" not in them, but everything was amazing. Even my kids LOVED everything and that does not happen often. One of my DD's (Rylaya my "look a like") love CR's road kill so much so took it apon her self to go to him, thank him and let him know how much she enjoyed it!
When we first got to the show (after we climbed the fence to watch the drift cars on the track) I mentioned to DH that he would be happy to know that I did not bring a box... He was confused, I explained that it ment I was not bringing home any chickens. Then I regreted it, because I found a Splash Ameraucana rooster that was for sale and I mentioned that I wanted him and DH told me to buy him..... CRAP!!!!! I had no way to get him home so he stayed there. Big Boo! Then we were over looking at the Orpingtons and DH say the HUGE roosters and said he wanted one of those. Man I really should have brought boxes after all.
Yes she did. There was also another young man (boy) in a red and black shirt who also came and told me the same thing! !!! If only they knew!!

SILLY girl there were boxes for sale. Or I had duct tape we could have made a box.

Had a great time meeting new peeps and seeing old friends at the show today. I am sorry if I missed anyone.
The food was AWSOME! Great job everyone! And I want to thank you all for feeding the judges and a couple of the guys running the show too. I invited them to be nice, and to ensure that they never say no to us when we want to do this next year!

I know they loved the food and appreciated being fed.
They also said that we were a great group and think it's great that we plan things like this. Way to represent BYC and the WA thread!

My Faverolles got BV and BB today, but she was the only one there. Lol! But I had a "future" judge take a gander at my pullet and he said she is a very nice bird. So I was happy.
My little Silkie got first place as a blue hen, but no BV, RV, BB, or RB. Her color is too dark. Oh well, at least I got to show some birds and neither of them were DQ'd. It was a good day.

Hope some of you are coming to Vancouver in April.

Nighty, night! I am so tired! My bed is calling to me.

Awesome Kim nice ya were able to get a good start.. Since we got home late 12:30 am I have the new babies in the house for the night to keep em warm.

Yes it has been a bit of long day but so fun and SO worth it when I get to spend time with BYC PEEPS. See we left home about 6:30 this morning and didn't get home until about 12:30
After the show we ended up wandering around Monroe feed with T Hi and her wonderful DD. Then we were invited to go spend some time at RainMom's house. She made a great dinner even if she was mean to me and make me show some of my kitchen grump skills. We had a very nice visit with her and DH.

THANK YOU KIM for getting permission for our gathering and for inviting the grand poobah's for lunch.

THANK YOU Jessica (and any other helpers) for coordinating things.

Thank you to all who supported IRONIMAGERY!

Thank you to SadieSue for the koolaide with fudge on it.

It was nice to see old faces and meet new ones. For those who I missed.... I was the guy in the bright pink hoodie.

Well I am going on the 22 hour mark so I think I will feed the dragon and park the wagon.
