Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

Crows are very smart, lovely birds. They just take advantage of situations that a lot of people don't want them in and so they get a bad rap. When I was going to UW, I gave the crows in a specific area handfuls of peanuts. Whenever they'd see me, the call would go out and there would be ten crows running after me down the sidewalk.

Out here in the country, they make great hawk alarms. We always listen for the crows when they're caring for their young. We'd actually like to draw them in more (they're shy), but we don't want the squirrels eating all of the peanuts.

May I offer some advice?

No glass is "half full" or "half empty". The real problem is "too much glass"
I am the last of the family I was born into. No siblings, no parents, no aunts or uncles from either side and no known cousins are left.
That "old gang of mine" is no longer alive either, all are gone.
Life is either too short or in some cases too long depending only on your perspective.

I live in the High Desert in CA and where I am we have Ravens twice the size of Crows....I toss out all the meat cuttings and bones, none of it goes into the trash to rot. I make a clicking sound and they come and sit on the phone lines and in the trees until they are ready to inspect. I love to watch them inspect the meat, poke at it and then pick pieces up and drop them as if they are making sure it is not alive. When I lived in the city I would put set it in the street ( lived in a double cull-de-sac no traffic) early in the morning and they would come and get breakfast, there we had crows. The only parts they would not take were the innards of the chicken. They are fun to watch especially when they have their young with them. Sorry for intruding on your site.

That's the thing about family, when they're no longer with us, there is so much we wish we would have said, and plenty we wish we didn't.

I have a 22 yr old daughter who will not speak with me.

I wish, more than anything, to be told why I am being punished.

IMHO - Girls get a notion that everything that could go wrong in a family is always the dad's fault. Sometimes, daddy's girls will be so blinded by their dad, and look at him through eyes that he could never do any wrong. When they get older, and the goggles wear off a bit, and maybe something didn't work out with their mom, that's when it becomes dad's fault....even when it isn't. Dad's are our hero's and when they make mistakes (like we all do) it's harder for us to swallow, because fo so long, they could do no wrong....

if that makes any sense....?
