Washingtonians Come Together! Washington Peeps

1000

Two day's worth of eggs. From the top, clockwise: Hamburg pullet, two Hamburg hens, three EEs (Tertia, Ginger, and Quinta, in that order), two BLRW; in the center are the Australorp and the first egg from my Barbu d'Anvers.

This is by way of cheering me up; my favorite of the Hamburgs (blue-eared Suzzie) took ill yesterday and is bedded down in fleece in the dog kennel with water and yoghurt; I'm going to make her some oatmeal but I fear she's egg-bound and other than syringing her cloaca with warm oil and testing her belly (which does not have any apparent hard obstructions) I've got no recourse but to wait and keep her warm and feed her goodies.

Stupid reality. And extra stupid in that I'm messing around with this stuff in the sleet.

It must be National Poultry Day today! Awesomeness is happening all around!!! Yay!!!

PICK ME !
You got it!

I have 42 eggs in the bator sitting on day 17.

I think I should candle them -- once at least during the incubating process -- or not, and I'll just move them to the hatcher tomorrow

hmmm
You have an incubator and a hatcher?! What may I ask is the difference?

Strangely enough, one of my cousins did two summers at DLI at Monterey early in her academic career; she ended up not going into the military, though, and is now a college professor and an authority on teaching English as a second language.
English, the second language for most every American, and sometimes third, since "American" is first!

The Mother Earth News Fair is not part of the Puyallup Fair. It's just held at the fairgrounds in Puyallup. MEN has two fairs a year they do. The other one is in Pennsylvania I think.

Chances are she attended when the school was in San Fran. By the time I went there, it had moved to Monterery -- not a bad place to spend a year (for Russian) - and an even better place to spend 4 months of TDY (for Turbo-Serbo)

Civilians were (still are?) allowed to attend.

There are two types --
  1. spouses of military students were allowed to attend the same classes as the soldier. The idea was that they'd use the target language at home and that would benefit the soldier.
  2. Civilians who paid to attend (I hear it was expensive)

We didn't like those folks from group 2 very much ...
